Morning Sickness Assistance Needed
I am only 6 weeks pregnant, and for the past 2 weeks, I have not been able to eat anything. I am sick morning, noon, and night, and even wake up at night sick. Everything I eat and drink gets thrown up. I am worried that this is not going to end soon. I have tried eating crackers, fruits and veggies, and taking vitamin b6 pills. None of these helped. Does anyone have any advice on something else to try? I am so hungry, yet nothing seems to work. Please help!

I also had horrible morning sickness with my two pregnancies, and believe me, I know where you're coming from!!
My doctor prescribed Meclizin for me, which is not typically a morning sickness drug (actually described as an anti-dizziness drug), but it's generic and cheap, and for me, it actually worked better than the "official" morning sickness drug, which is really pricey.
The Meclizin made it so I could actually function--still nauseous but didn't vomit anymore (just when I brushed my teeth)--otherwise I would have been a lump on the bathroom floor for two months!!
Also--just remembered this--eat a little something before moving in the morning. I kept a little baggie of saltine crackers next to my bed and forced one or a half of one down each morning before I even sat up. Then I waited about ten minutes or so for it to get settled before trying to get going. It helped me. I found the worst thing was an empty stomach.
Good luck!!

One thing I could suggest to you is called "preggie pops". I got them at USA Baby. They taste kinda different but they seem to work pretty well! Good Luck!

When i was pregnant with both of my girls I was really sick. I found one thing that helped was taking my prenatal at night before i went to bed. Soda crackers and sprite were also my best friends until the second trimester.

Have you considered seeing a homeopath? It was the only thing that worked for me while I was pregnant. it is much safer and more holistic than anything a regular doctor can offer.
I see one in St.Paul - if your interested her website is www.beyondwell.com, she is wonderful.

Dear J.,
I had really bad morning sickness with my first two children. I was told to try ginger root. It looked weird and I thought it would be really nasty, however, the taste was not as bad as I thought and it helped! You should be able to find it in any grocery store. Also, with my second child, I tried Dramamine (which is for car sickness) and it also worked. Again, taste is not so good, but it works. Here are some other suggestions I got off the internet (my youngest is 5 1/2 so some of these new "treatments" are ones I have not tried):
antacids that are low in sodium and available over-the-counter
vitamin B6 (check with your doctor before taking any vitamins)
sugar solution that is available over-the-counter
acupressure wristbands (used for seasickness)
antihistamine (prescribed by a doctor) only if the following concerns are evident: persistent vomiting, insufficient weight gain and signs of dehydration
Also, you can check out this website. They have products you can purchase (like preggie pops, accupressure wristbands, etc) that can help with naseau:

Also, please read the info below. I never heard of this while I was pregnant. Must be something they have found within the past 5-6 years.
What if I just can't keep anything down?
Call your provider if you haven't been able to keep anything — including fluids — down for 24 hours. (If you're newly pregnant and don't yet have a doctor or midwife, go to the emergency room.)
You may have a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum — literally, "excessive vomiting in pregnancy." This condition can be difficult to manage, but the sooner you're diagnosed and begin treatment, the more likely you'll be able to avoid severe symptoms.
Good luck and remember: it doesn't last for the whole pregnancy and once you hold your little one, all the pains and aches will be worth it. Take care and congratulations!

congratulations!
when i was pregnant with my son, i was terribly nauseous. the only thing that helped me was lemon & ginger. i drank lemon propel water by the gallon, ate lemon jellybeans, sucked on lemon drops...
if all else fails, seeing your doctor is a good idea before you get too far along. good luck...

Both my doctor and a friend who is a midwife suggested I stop taking my prenatal vitamin until the second trimester. I did, and felt better immediately. I made sure I ate foods rich in folate to make sure that base was covered. When I started the vitamin again, I had no problems. Good luck!

Hello!
I am new to this site and I just read your post. I know with my pregnancies it really helped to suck on hard candy, strange, I know, but it worked. It helped curb my appetite because food was out of the question for a while! It also calmed my stomach. I even picked up a bag of dum dums at Sams and used those all the time!
I am a Birth Doula so if you have any other questions feel free to contact me! My e-mail is ____@____.com
I hope this helps! Good luck!

that's normal; actually, I had "all day/night- sickness" for 6 month; I was worried, but the key is to keep yourself hydrate....The doctor recommend me to take unisom and B6, but that didn't work for me.....
The good news is that my grandmother says that when you have a very rough pregnancy is because your son/daughter will be very easy-going baby.
Mine is so good that you cannot believe it....e.g. since he was 3 weeks old he sleeps during the night (the whole night!!!!)
If you feel that you are getting worst with your sickness, sometimes the doctor provide a prescription (Zofran) to help and even avoid that.....and the good part is that it doesn't affect the baby, that help me a lot!!!!

I'm not sure if anyone has recommended this yet, but definitely try ACUPUNCTURE! I also had horrible morning sickness, and I absolutely hated the experience of getting acupuncture, but within a few days I was totally 100% better! I also tried everything else, and nothing worked. Just tell the person that you want it for morning sickness, and they will do special things and pinpoint certain areas that deal with nausea and pregnancy. Some people need a few treatments for it to work, but it worked after only one treatment for me! So I would REALLY recommend it.

I had a lot of sickness during my first trimester, too. I found I felt sicker when I was getting hungry, and that if I ate constantly I felt a lot better. I kept crackers and cookies and cereal in my desk at work, in my purse, and next to my bed. Whenever I'd start to feel hungry or queasy, I'd eat, lol.
Try ginger cookies. My favs are the Mi-Del ones that I get at the co-op. Lots of ginger and they're pretty hard, so I could almost suck on them. Ginger is great stomach calmer. Also I found a ginger cereal and ate that dry. A good friend suggested dry cereal to me and it really helped in the morning.
Are you taking a pre-natal vitamin? Mine made me SO queasy! I could only take it with a ton of milk and while I was eating, otherwise it would come right back up.
Be sure to talk to your doc and see if they can help. Good luck!
