Morning Sickness
Hello,
I am extremely happy to be newly pregnant (with my second child), but morning (or shall I call it off-and-on all day) sickness has begun. I had terrible morning sickness with my first son and stuck with ginger ale and saltines. I have been looking on-line for some new suggestions and have read about motion sickness bracelets and Preggy Pops. Has anyone had any luck with either of these morning sickness remedies or any other alternative? I would appreciate any advice...THANKS!

Hi S.,
Congratulations! In addition to the Preggy Pops, there is a tea made by Earth Mama Angel Baby called Morning Wellness Tea (http://blessedbaby.wahmweb.com/store/i.asp?13). It's yummy, and I used it for the stomach bug as well as morning sickness. Many blessings for a healthy pregnancy!

S., Congratulations! I had all day, all night sickness. I had to continue working through it all and finally called my midwife because I just couldn't deal with the sick feeling all the time. She told me to use a variety of things including the bracelets, which did not work for me. The one that that did work, and I never hear of anyone else using it is Unisom. It's a sleep-aid you can buy in the drug store. Nothing compares to the exhaustion of pregnancy and adding a sleeping pill may not seem like the answer but it was like night and day difference. I could function again! My midwife only had me taking a half dose every 4 hours and I even got myself down to about a 1/4 dose. Also, I had to keep eating a little all the time. Protein was key! You should definitely ask your Dr. about Unisom. They said there would be no side effects or bother the baby. It was such a small dose that it really didn't make me tired.
I totally feel for you. Good luck!

I never threw up with either of my girls (sorry, not bragging) however i did have the all day queasiness with them, especially #2. Whole foods had an all natural morning sickness tablet, I want to call it "good Mornings" or something, anyways, you take it before bed and I think whenver else u need it, but it really seemed to help the nausea. Also, they carry ginger chews and ginger pops and those are what i lived on, never left home without them. I probably would have been praying to the porcelain god when prego with number 2 if I didnt have these things, good luck!
ps. also, mint tea is always great, prego or not!

I used the sea sickness band which did help. I also used Paul Newman's Pink Lemonade quite a bit. I was VERY sick and often that was the only think I could drink. Preggo Pops worked sometimes for me.
Good luck! And remember, feeling this way isn't forever!

I am on my third , and I too suffer all aday and night. I had some good success with food based prenatal vitamins-I use Rainbow Light brand complete. They contain chammomile and ginger as well as the other stuff you need.
Also, my widwife suggested vitamin B6, which you take small doses of up four times day. I was amazed. It doesn't "cure all" , but makes life much more bearable.
I was also prescribed Phenergan -which I didn't care for, but it helped, it just made me more tired than I already was.
good luck and maybe look forward to your second trimester when things ease up, usually :)

I had the same problem when I was pregnant with my first child. I found that the Sea sickness bracelets work great. You can usually find them in your local Walgreens,CVS or Eckards.Right next to the Dramine for motion sickness. They work on pressure points so no drugs involved.Hope this helps.

Congrats! I was always told to eat frequent small meals throughout the day. That seemed to help. I too had all day "morning sickness" Also I used to start my day with ginger snaps because ginger is great for calming your stomach. God Bless

Hi S., congratulations...I remember being pregnant as the most wonderful months of my life... For morning sickness my nutritionist advised a glass of warm water with squeezed lemon juice in it. It was wonderful. I never once threw up and contrary to what you might think if you take it on an empty stomach it does not give you heartburn!! Good luck, Y.
