I have a friend who went through the training a couple of years ago for Fort Worth ISD. I remember she had to go to Houston for the training and it lasted I think 6 weeks. She is already a certified teacher so I am not sure why the training was so long, but I guess it is a required.

I own Countryside Montessori in Denton. There are numerous trainings available from AMI, AMS, Southwestern (based in Denton), Collin County Community College (night classes, a couple of nights a week I think) and more.

You should research the method and schools that you might be interested in for employment. Different schools have different requirements.

Also, keep in mind future goals. It is a great career for a mom and someone who enjoys working with children. However, we do it because we love to teach, not for the money! :)

Try Montessori Episcopal School in Lewisville. Our head of school, Deborah Harrington, has been training Montessori educators for many, many years. She is highly respected in the Montessori community. The number is ###-###-####. Good luck!

I would give Laura Roark at Barbara Gordon Montessori in Colleyville a ring. She's head of the school there. My oldest goes there & loves it. Laura is a great resource! http://www.bgmontessori.org/
