Moms with Ms

Hello, I am currently undergoing testing for "stuff". In other words we don't know yet. About 3 years ago I went to a neurologist thinking I had MS. No lesions showed on my Mri brain scan. The symptoms I was experiencing were very specific to ms. I was having electric shock pains in the side of my face. everytime I worked out both of my legs would "tick" all over. I coulnd't see them moving but if you could see them it would have looked like lights blinking all over my legs and it felt like someone was taking thousands of little straight pins and just poking me all over my legs. I also had trouble pinching quarters to put them ino the slots at ChuckE Cheese. It was odd bc i'd never had a problem with that before. Well, after that I went on to have two more children and had no symptoms during that time. Now I am 18 months post pregnancy and I have developed a tingling sensation that goes up the back of my neck and head when I swallow. It feels like the food is pushing on something. Also the ticking is back in my legs. Did anyone have symptoms like this? Also, is it possible to have not had lesions yet and to have them now? Also, if there were no lesions on my brain...could there be lesions on my spine instead? I am schedlued for a MRI on Monday and it is only on my lower back for pain...can they see lesions at the bottom of your spine?

What can I do next?

I've had four friends misdiagnosed with MS, yes four. One had RA, one has had Lymes Disease for over 20 years, one has ADEM and one has a condition I can't even pronounce. Please get several opinions. Don't just get all the opinions from one type of source. Confirm any diagnoses with a naturopath or an upper cervical chiropractor. Its amazing how much insight you can have when someone simply asks you a question that hasnt been asked yet.

The naturopath diagnosed the Lymes disease (symptoms sound similar to yours but they do change and morph often) and Jeanette is finally improving. She passed this condition on to 4 of her children which is another good reason to KNOW your diagnosis is accurate. Upper cervical chiropractic can remove interference that will allow your own immune system to work toward healing you. I'm not saying it's a "cure all" but you want your body to be working with you and not against you. (www.upcspine.com is a good place to find one in your area if you don't know of one.)

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. God bless!

M.

I was diagnosed with MS about 18 months ago. My symptoms were numbness in both feet that progressed up both my legs making me trip frequently and walk slowly. Also terrible fatigue, particularly in the mid-afternoon. However, as every neurologist I've seen says, MS is different for everyone (I hate hearing that since it seems that is their answer to everything!). You might be interested to know that I was diagnosed from an MRI showing lesions on my C-spine and T-spine. I had no lesions on my brain at that time although my last MRI a few months ago showed a couple appearing. An MRI of your lower lumbar spine cannot show MS lesions so will not help you in a diagnosis. I would suggest you get an MRI of the t and c spine.
By the way, if at some point you do get diagnosed with MS, please research CCSVI. They have a great facebook page. A new theory for MS is that it is related to narrowing and blockage of the jugular and/or azygos veins. I had angioplasty to fix a 90% blockage in my azygos vein and haven't had a relapse since. I am waiting for my next MRI to see the impact on my lesions but it has worked for a lot of people.
Good Luck!

Hi S.,
I am sorry to hear about what you have been going through... I have not personally experienced what you describe... I hope the tests you are having help to clarify things for you. I wanted to let you know of a supplement that has helped people with MS and other serious illnesses. It may help you as well. Let me know if you'd like more info. May God bless you in the coming year and always.

hi S., one of my best buds has MS, and it's been a real nightmare working through to a solid diagnosis and then treatment. it tends to be a negative diagnosis (ruling out everything else) unless/until the lesions show up. yes, it's perfectly possible and even likely that lesions don't show up early in the disease's progression, but without lesions it's very difficult to say for sure that what you have is indeed MS.
never heard of them showing up on the spine, but i guess it's possible.
good luck!
