Moms of Multiples - What to Buy for Gift?
I have a good friend that is expecting twin girls. This is her first pregnancy, she is an older mom (35) and she plans on this being her "one shot deal". She also plans on going back to work and having a nanny. She is not all about green, organic, etc.
Now - for my question. Her shower is next Saturday, and I would like to get her something that will truly be helpful. Those that have multiples, what do you wish you had, or what did you get that you used a lot? Or should I go really boring but useful and just buy diapers and wipes and onesies? I'm thinking the $50 range.
Yes, she has a registry - I can always go to that. But was hoping moms of multiples could give me an idea that SHE hasn't thought of that would be especially helpful.

I was a nanny for triplets babies way back when - and we went through washcloths like you wouldn't believe. The parents had a stack of plain white washcloths (30-40 adult sized) folded on the kitchen counter. Whenever someone needed face/hands wiped, spit-up wiped off (or wiped up from the floor) or highchair trays hastily wiped down after a messy meal, or - you name it - a fresh washcloth was grabbed from the pile. A bucket for "needs washed" cloths was handy to toss the used one into before grabbing a clean one for the next job.

Having 2 Boppies were a lifesaver to me.
I do like Meridith's idea of a prepaid housecleaner, those first few days home with twins are nuts!

These were my life savers:http://www.greatbabyproducts.com/Milk-Maid-Baby-Bottle-Ho...
I put my girls in there boppy's next to me on the bed with these bottle holders and could take turns burping them. I also used them when they were in their strollers and it was feeding time. When they were reall small I would have to use a cloth diaper to help prop it. And cloth diapers were always my favorite burp rags/spit up cleaners too.

Jumo-sized diaper genie? lol.
A boppy is always good to have, or one of those bumbo chairs. She won't be able to use the chair for a while, but once they get a little older it would probably be nice to be able to stick one somewhere that you don't have to worry while changing the other's diaper or feeding... etc.

The miracleblanket saved me with my twins. Nothing better for a mom of multiples than sleep.

I don't have twins, but I know a family that swears by a Podee Hands free bottle. This way if both babies are hungry and mom/dad is by themselves, they can give one a bottle and the other one can get the hands free one. It allows for the baby to have one on one time too. I don't know how much it is, but thought it looked cool.

Some things I've found useful that I've also given as gifts:
The Ultimate Crib Sheet by Basic Comfort - snaps on top of regular fitted crib sheet and has waterproof liner - you still see the pattern of the fitted sheet on the side of the crib, and it's SO much easier to change than a fitted crib sheet
Halo Sleep Sacks - get the larger sizes so she'll have them ready when winter weather hits
The "Emergency Diaper Bag" - a portable changer kit (I used one by the First Years - foldable changing pad with a wipes case and pockets to hold supplies - about $10 at Target), a couple onesies, diapers and wipes, hand sanitizer, burp rags, plastic bags (like newspaper bags, folded up and tucked into one of the pockets), receiving blanket, maybe a couple granola bars or other type of shelf-stable snack (nursing moms can get REALLY hungry) and a grown-up size t-shirt (because when "spit happens" sometimes the adult gets it too!). Put it in a simple bag - could be something like a reusable grocery bag or a hospital freebie diaper bag - and write a little card saying that this kit goes in the trunk of the car *now* because sometime in the course of new parent sleeplessness they'll go out with the babies and either forget the diaper bag or forget something important in the diaper bag.
