I'd like to get with a group that enjoys outdoor activities like hiking or riding horses. I don't have a bike, but maybe I could get one. Basically, I'm tired of sitting at home gaining weight.

Is there a group that gets together to do Pilates and/or Yoga? I'd love to take an actual class at a studio, but funding is an issue at the moment...

I don't have small kids, but I love them, so they wouldn't bother me. I also have a daughter we could bribe into babysitting.

What can I do next?

Check out the Waxahachie YMCA. They provide scholarhsips and adjust the membership fee based on your income. It should be affordable for you. There are people of all ages there. There are also a variety of classes to take and you can exercise and chat at the same time. It's fun. We'd love to have you!

T.,

There is a group of women that meet for Yoga at the Methodist church every Friday Morning at 9am. The cost is $5 per session. The Yoga instructor is great: Yoga By Dawn (she is a MommaSource member!)

Hi there, T.! I'm new to Midlothian and have wondered the same thing to. We had a family gym membership at our old city that was the same price as a single is at the little gym here - without all the bells & whistles of the bigger gym.

I recently saw that the Methodist Church by the high school is advertising Jazzercise classes. I know it is fairly an 80's concept but I was thinking it might be fun & give me a chance to meet some other women. I was going to look at joining after the holidays. Would love to know if you find anything else. I also enjoy walking and wouldn't mind hiking. It would be great to have a workout buddy.

That would be a lot of fun! I had a wlaking buddy for a while, but her husband got transfered and they moved a couple of months a go! :(
I wouldn't be able to do anything 'til the Spring- I'm due with #5 in Jan. But I would love to get to gether with a group once a week or so and go out to Cedar Hill and go hiking or there are a couple of great parks around the area to go walking at. It could be just whoever shows up- goes.
The yoga class sounds great also- but I still have to wait on that. I can't even see my toes anymore, let alone try to reach them! :)
