"Mommy and Me" Preschool?
My good friend in Orange County found a "Mommy and Me" preschool class for her 2 year old and keeps telling me how amazing it was- her daughter even got to "graduate"... my friend said that it went through the local city schools and was $95 a semester. It was a parent participation class... have any of you heard of something like this in San Diego?? I am dying to find some type of program like this for my daughter and I. Any suggestions would be wonderful! Thanks!

Just 2 weeks ago I was told about the classes with San Diego's continuing education that 3 people here have commented about (http://www.sandiegocet.net/). Under the subject of "family education", multiple classes will come up for each age group of child(like "Discovering Me" for 24-36 month olds). My friend described it to me as preschool where the mommies stay. She also told me the "Outdoor Classroom" is cool as well. It's basically like field trips all over San Diego. Good luck!

Alcott Elementary school has Baby and Me and Toddler and Me programs. They are every other Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 am. This program is run by the Alcott Elementary infant program, so many of the babies and toddlers are special needs. The program is open to the public, so there are also typically developed children that attend. It's free and drop in, so you could try that. Unfortunately, there's only two more sessions before the summer break: June 25 and July 9. Alcott Elementary is located at 4680 Hidalgo Ave in Clairemont.

Hi J.-
I did the classes that Bunny participated in and they were free and fun. My daughter and I participated in the 1 yr, 2 yr, indoor and out door classes and also the parent participation preschool from 3-5. My son and I did the same but we started it at the 0-12 month classes. They book fast so make sure that you get your daughter on the waiting list, and for the 2 year old classes make sure that you get to the site early on reg day. The classes really are fun and informative!

I don't know about the San Diego School District, but the Poway School District has it. My son is 3 and 1/2 and I just enrolled him starting in August. They have it at most of the public elementary schools.

I agree that Grossmont Union (under adult education) has a lot of great (very low cost - about $35 per semester) classes and several locations to choose from in the East County. Many summer classes are, unfortunately, full, but they will have classes starting again in the fall. http://www.guhsd.net/adult/

Hi J., I attended a Parent Participation pre school at Castke Parl Elementry here in Chula vista, I had to little boys at the time, they loved it I loved it. It is a real good program. I would call a local elementry school and ask them if that school, or one in the surrounding area offers this program. J.

Grossmont Adult School has (at least they did 7 years ago) a great parent participation preschool program. My daughter and I attended at Santana High School. At each meeting, parents (mostly moms) would sign up for a particular job for the day, such as play-doh table, easels, etc. There was also a great outdoor class, and every week we would meet at a different park for fun outdoor activities. Unfortunately, the participating schools (at least back then) were only in the East County, nothing in the Central and Coastal San Diego areas. I have also heard that the San MArcos Rec Center might have a similar type program.

Grossmont Adult offers many around the east county. I loved Michelle the teacher. If you are in another part of the county, all the community colleges offer them and they are great and inexpensive!
