Mommy and Baby Classes

Does anyone know of any good 'Mommy and Baby' type classes in Lakeview/Lincoln Park? Looking for some winter activities for me and my 3 month old son.

What can I do next?

We have been doing Music Together for almost two years and started when my daughters were very young. It was fantastic when they were infants - they loved the music and watching the big kids. It is fantastic now - they love participating with the music and seeing the babies who come to class.

We are not in the city, but here is a class locator for Music Together Classes.

Try sweetpea studio over by Trader Joe's. They're a great resource for this type of thing... www.sweetpeasstudio.com

Try your local library. They have free classes for infants (and toddlers). Most are very popular, so although they are free, you still need to register.

Borders, Barnes & Noble, etc all have free storytimes too.

Lincoln Park Farm in the Zoo has a free sing-a-long with Mr Singer (he's a former Wiggleworm teacher, and toddler rock star!) every Wednesday at 9:15 and 10am in the yellow farmhouse.

The park district is great - but they don't offer a lot until your child is around 18 months old.

The city offers so much for kids - its amazing!

Old Town School of Music has really good classes for babies and kids called Wiggleworms. They have a location on Lincoln and on Armitage Ave. www.oldtownschool.org We also did Gymboree which we enjoyed. You could check that out online to see if there are any locations close to you for that. Also, some park districts offer some good classes too.

Park District classes are the cheapest, but hard to get in to.
Gymboree as the others have said. The one on Lincoln...parking can be challenging but the one on North Ave in the Circuit City has a free parking garage.
Bubbles Academy is great too. Free parking lot.
Most all places will do a FREE preview class. If you pick up a free copy of Chicago Parent Magazine they have a coupon for Gymboree so you don't have to pay the membership fee. Gymboree also let you put membership on hold if you go away on vacation, then resume when you come back...some you have to pay per semester, and do make-ups within that time.
Good luck....you'll love the classes, and bonding with your son!

Sweet Pea Studio (http://www.sweetpeasstudio.com/) has mom & baby yoga and pilates classes that I've taken and enjoyed. There's also a kids music place in the studio next door that I've wanted to try but haven't yet.

They are both located at 3717 Ravenswood and parking near there isn't bad. Have fun!

What about My Gym (on Fullerton)? They do GREAT classes and I'm pretty sure big discounts for little babies. The facility is super clean and the staff is the best around! I have three kids and they all ask to go to My Gym on a regular basis!

I did MY LITTLE GYM... it's a great facility with wondeful activities. They have a website www.thelittlegym.com. Also, are there MOPS in your area? You, too, can also look on their website. GYMBOREE MUSIC AND PLAY, I heard, has good baby classes and I think they're all over Chicago. Hope this helps!
