I will be a stay-at-home mom very soon and am hoping to find inexpensive ways to stay social. I will need to bring my kids with a lot of the time. I am also looking for advice or stories from other moms who are extroverted or like to be busy but stay home with their kids most of the time. What do you do to stay entertained and social?

What can I do next?

K., I've been a SAHM for 2 months now with my son Owen (18 months). I'm still trying to find play/mom groups. I did find one, but everything they do is at 10 - this is when Owen naps. I need to start an afternoon play group. I live in New Brighton. I'm very forward and I think it scares people when I just walk up to them and start talking. It has not been as easy to find other moms/playgroups as I thought it would be. I'm a little bummed about that. If you'd like to start an afternoon (around 2:00) play group please let me know.
Thanks C. (34 yr old, 1 son Owen 18 months and due with his sister in Nov)
Heres a few websites I've found:

Hi,
I really enjoyed Early Childhood and Family Education (ECFE) through the Minneapolis public schools. Through the classes I took there, we've formed a mom's group and continue to meet through the summer once a week. I'm moving to St. Paul this month and I've been having trouble accessing the ECFE portion of the St. Paul public school website. I assume that they will have classes available this fall. It's on a sliding scale so cost is not a worry.
Good Luck,
T. Saame

Try www.momsclub.org to find the local club for your area. They have clubs all over St Paul, depending on your address. Great way to meet moms/kids in your area.

K.. there are neighborhood Mom's Clubs which are part of Mom's Club International (you can look up their website). I joined the Highland-Groveland chapter when my first child was 15 months and have met many good friends for myself and for my children. We have several events planned each week, most of which are free. M.

Depending on the ages of your kids, I have a membership to the Childrens Museum and the MN Zoo. Two places I actually don't mind going to. Also I keep up with the MOAmerica website and see the calendar for their toddler tuesdays or special events, because you know us moms love the mall,or at least I do. The library is a nice place on a "good day" because you can get the kids some books to look at in the aisles by you while you look for something of your interest. Start them in swim lessons, or do ECFE. I loved ECFE. They start back up in the fall. They are really nice programs ran through community ed where you briings the kids to socialize and the moms have time to talk about mom stuff. Good luck girl.
