Mom Seeking Hair Cut for 2 Year Old

I am looking for a place to take my daughter to get her hair cut. She had a cut once before at one of the children's places however the lady chopped her hair and used the razor siscors, which has taken her almost a year to grow out. Any recommendations for a place or person that will take a little more time when cutting would be appreciated!

What can I do next?

Thanks for all the helpful responses. I ended up trying the eClipsKids and it worked out. She was very nervous but I think if we go a few more times she will like it.
They did a great job and was very quick so it wasn't too painful!

Aqua cuts is good, you can find them in the Cabin John Mall near Blockbuster.
They very friendly.

Bradley Barbers-If you want fast and cheap (10 min tops, you have to remember 2 yr olds can't sit too long.)

I have been taking my little boy (he's 4) to the woman who does my hair. She is really great with kids as well as with adults. Her name is Maria Beckham and she has her own salon in her house. Her number is ###-###-#### and her business is Shapes and Shades.

I've been taking my 2 yr old son to eClips Kids in Ashburn Village for nearly a year. We see Ms. Nita and always made an appt for a weekday, trying to the first appt of the day. She has always been very patient with him and has even been able to use the clippers the last couple of times. (He has a LOT of curls and is always mistaken for a girl unless it's really short, even if he's wearing camoflauge!) They have DVD players at every station, but after our first trip I was disappointed in the DVD selection, which was more geared to preschool age and beyond and not a 14 month old. I started bringing my own DVDs, and still do to help keep him occupied while she's cutting.

I have curly hair too, and I've had MANY a bad haircut in my lifetime. I've learned I have to be very specific about what I want and don't want them to do. Don't use words like "just a trim" because that means something different to each person. Be specific about how much you want cut in inches. If you don't want them to use the razor scissors, tell them upfront before they start cutting.

I see you're in Fairfax, so am I. I've been taking my DD (who is 4 now) since her very first hair cut to Francesca (the owner) at Hair Pair in Vienna. It's in a strip mall right on Rt 123. www.hairpair.com
Its a regular salon, so I go to her for my hair too. She is really great with the kids, very quick, but very good! My DD has a short little haircut and she does a wonderful job each time.
I was referred to her by my friend who was taking her twin girls there (also since they were born) - she takes all 3 of her girls there, the twins are going to be 7 in May.

Good luck!

My son has always done well at The Hair Cuttery. They put him on a booster chair and he feels big and special. Wherever you end up going, it may help to actually schedule the appointment instead of just walking in somewhere on a whim. That way you get to choose the stylist and they actually have time to get to know you. It may also help to take her with you when you have your hair styled. Then she can see that everyone gets it done.

I"m sorry you had such a bad experience! We had a horrible cut of my daughter's bangs (visibly, really crooked) at one place. But it all depends on the person cutting the hair. I don't know where you live but we now use the Fair Oaks Mall Cartoon Cuts and always ask for the stylist named Binh; Martha at that location has also been good for us in the past. Let them know up front that you had a bad chop-cut in the past! Also, don't get a kid's hair cut on a weekend, espeically Saturdays, if you can avoid it -- the kids' cut places tend to be swamped those days. We go on weekday afternoons and find it's much mellower and the stylists have more time. Also, if you didn't before, do call and make an appointment instead of doing a walk-in, so your little one isn't getting restless. Good luck!
