Mom Seeking an Affordable Bi-linguel Preschool
A friend of mine is seeking an affordable pre-school where they can speak and teach her English as well as French. Most of the places she has found run close to $2000.00 a month. Does anyone have any ideas?
So What Happened?™
Oh my! I am overwhelmed by the quick responses, and how helpful they all are!! Thanks so much all of you! I am going to share your ideas with my friend/neighbor and get her to sign up for mamasource too! I think the best idea would be to organize a small group who would be interested in hiring a french tutor/teacher for a few hours a week, How resourcefull! I would love to ask my friend and get back to those of you who might be interesed in doing that. We live in mid-city Los Angeles, Beverly Hills adjacent. I will keep you posted!

HI T.,
It's hard to find an affordable pre-school in Los Angeles to begin with, let alone one that teaches French! I would love to hear if she ever finds one. Perhaps she can create a sort of French speaking play date group with her French friends. If she wants something inexpensive that would probalby be the way to go.

OMG. I have been looking for something bi-lingual (French) for my 2 girls also. Its impossible. Especially if you want an affordable one. Alliance Francaise (in Century City) offers a mommy'me class that we took, but I was not impressed and did not re-sign up. If any of you know a native French speaker who would like to teach a short 1-2 hour class for a few children at a reasonable rate, I'd sign up. I live in the valley and know of another 2 kids that would be interested. I see that according to these posts, there is definatley a need for this. Hopefully we can find something that works.

She should check this school out. It has several locations around Los Angeles and I don't thinbk it costs $2000 a month!

I have a daughter that just turned one. I would love for her to learn French too. If your friend is interested, maybe we can have a French language play date.

My kids go to the LILA Los Feliz campus (Lycee International de Los Angeles). There is a LILA Pasadena campus as well as OC & West Valley. What part of town are you in? We are very happy with the school. There is a more expensive option on the westside on Overland (Lycee Francais) but I do not know of any other French schools in L.A. LILA is very moderately priced at around $10,000 for the school year. I skipped their preschool & started each of my kids in Kindergarten. We chose a half day American preschool that was more play oriented. At age 5 they began the immersion into French at LILA in the Kindergarten. They both had very good experiences & loved their Kinder year at LILA. Now they are in 4th & 2nd grades & still doing very well, very happy. Lovely school with plenty of open green space, strong bi-lingual program. We've been very satisfied with the English & French programs.
