I just moved to Kansas City, MO right near the Plaza district. I'm looking for information on pediatric dentist and a great place to get kids hair cuts! Also, does anyone know about the Foreign Language Academy? I know it's a magnet school in the Kansas City, MO school district (which I'm aware isn't the greatest), but I'm wondering as a magnet school is it any better, did you like the school or if you have any warning about it.

Thanks so much!!

My favorite pediatric dentist is Jenkins and Leblanc. They have one location in Shawnee on Shawnee Mission Parkway and one on Metcalf, I think. They're not too close to you, but they are definitely worth the drive! My kids look forward to their dentist appointments and always hate to leave. Sorry, I don't know anything about the magnet school you asked about, but good luck and welcome to KC!

Hello,
I take my daughter to the Smile Salon on the Plaza and she sees Dr. K - they treat children and adults and so we go together and they are great with her - it is kind of fancy and expensive so you may want to make sure your insurance covers it:)
I have heard pretty good things about the Foreign Language Academy and do think, in general, that the magnets and charter schools are better than the alternative. You may also want to check into Academy Lafyette, a french immersion in Brookside, that gets lots of praise.

Dr Steven Mingos - www.drmingos.com - ask for Nancy as your hygentist. I have a 4 yo that has been going there since 14 months old. They do a great job w/ kids (and adults).

Most people love Academy Lafyette or Border Star for the KC MO school district.

If interested in preschool, parks or anything like that email me. We live near the plaza too...so I know a little about the area.

Welcome to KC!

I also recommend Dr Kurt Aarons. He's been great. I recently asked my kids if they wanted to switch to our dentist as they are getting older (10 & 12), the response was "No Way!".

The KCMO school district has been challenging but we have LOVED having our kids at Border Star Montessori in Brookside. We are a magnet school with a wonderfully supportive, caring community of staff, teachers and parents. The Foreign Language Academy has a good reputation and has also won some awards recently. If interested in learning more about Border Star, you are welcome to contact me or the school directly ###-###-####). A tour for interested families is scheduled for the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 10am. The next one is November 16th.

Welcome!

As for a recommendation on a dentist, my kids love Dr. Kurt Aarons. He's located very close to the Plaza. All of the hygentists are great too. My kiddos can't wait to go the dentist. Good luck.

I have heard great things about Dr. Kurt Aarons, ped. dentist right on the plaza. My neighbor has her daughter in Academy Lafayette Kindergarten this year. They are very happy with it. The K class fills fast so sign up early! Welcome to KC.

For a pediatric dentist, I recomend Dr. Fales, he is in Olathe. He is the BEST!!!!!!! His practice is extremely friendly and everyone there is so nice and patient. My son is 7 months old and goes to him due to having a cleft palatte, he has an appliance to cover the hole in the roof of his mouth so he can eat easier. But, Dr. Fales is so awesome and they are very caring. After our dog ate our sons appliance (a $500 appliance I may add) we had to have another impression taken to make the new appliance, he sends the impression to a company that makes it. He charged us only $100 and he paid the rest!!!! I dont have his number handy, but look him up online, he really cares and listens.
