Hello,
I'm a full-time working mom to two boys 31/2 years and 20 months. My boys have so much energy and they are literally taking my home apart! Does anyone know of a place (in the Detroit area) sort of like a gym (not at the mall) where they have free play. Or maybe an indoor playscape where they can run, jump, scream and burn off lots of energy.

thank you

So What Happened?

We visited Jungle Java today. And I was actually not stressed being out with the boys. They had a great time. My 1 year old enjoyed the big kid area alot better than the toldler area so I had to ride the slides with him to make sure he did not get sqashed by the bigger kids. And I did not feel as if I had to follow my 3 year old around every second to make sure he did not get into any trouble. So, it was great. I will add this place to my list to do over the weekend. We will probably go early before noon naps to avoid the larger crowds.

Thanks alot.

Have you tried Jungle Java? There's one in Farmington Hills and one in Canton. I believe the one in Farmington Hills is at 12 Mile and Middlebelt. I can't remember where the one n Canton is. I think it's about $6 per kid to go in and play. Usually after taking my two kids there, I'm the one that needs a nap! Good luck!

The Warren Community Center has gyms, a huuuge swim area with large slides and a lazy river.

I'm not sure what these places offer during the weekend, but I've heard of the "Roseville Indoor Park", and "Pump it Up". Do they like the water? You could look for swimming classes. You could always bundle them up and let them hit the outside park. If you are dressed right, it isn't too bad outside most days.

There is a place in Plymouth called The Kids Play Cafe it is great for children who can navigate the play structures independently ( not so great for toddlers ). When I took my son I did not have to pay anything, though I am not sure if that is norm. It is located in downtown Plymouth, but not sure of exact street so I would google it if it sounds like something you would like to try.

Hi B.,
It's not in Detroit, but not to far. You might want to look at pumpitupparty.com. This place can be fun for everyone.

Hi B.,

I would suggest Java Jungle http://www.junglejavaplay.com/
It's not free but they can run around and play on slides and climb different things. It's nice and you can sit and have some coffee and have a bite to eat while they play.

For kids that age, a great place is in downtown Plymouth. I think it's call "Kids Play Cafe". It's on the corner of Main Street and Pennimin Ave. Across from Kellogg Park. If you are familiar with downtown Plymouth from 15-20 years ago, it's were the NBD bank used to be. It's an indoor play scape. They also do birthday parties and have some food - sandwiches, treats and drinks, mostly. Relatively inexpensive, too. The play scape is roomy enough for mom and dad to climb too!

Good luck
