My 19 month old's feet sweat and sometimes her shoes get moldy...does anyone else have this experience and if so, what can I do? She has to wear her shoes at daycare so keeping her shoes off isn't an option. Thanks for any advice!

What can I do next?

Don't have her wear the same shoes daily--alternate and give them a day off to dry completely. You can get little inserts to help the drying process.

my sweaty footed daughter benefits from baby powder (though I bet corn starch would work too.

Oh my goodness! You certainly don't want her to have a foot disease!
She may be one of those kids that has sweaty feet or her shoes may not be breathable. Throw those away! Can you put her in soft white cotton socks with sandals? When Winter comes, can you put her in a good pair of airy sneakers? Okay to use foot powers too (not baby powder) to keep her shoes dry and clear of mold.

N., I also have this kind of problem. You've gotten good advice so far. The only thing I would add is, I use anti-perspirant spray(you know for under arms). It won't hurt her at all, it's just that it's cold going on. GOD'S blessings to you.

Also ALWAYS wear socks - buy shoes that work with socks. (and switch shoes often, throwing them away once they get smelly). If they stay dry they should last and not get smelly.

N.,

My feet were just like that when I was a baby and until I was 28 when I was treated for a fungal infections. I always thought I dealt with infections because of the perspiration rather than the other way around. Check her little feet and toenails. If her toenails are involved the treatment requires a prescription, a lot of money or good insurance, and a commitment, but you will get all of that money back in shoes and comfort.

Good Luck!

Ugh poor you! I agree, holding on to moldy shoes is probably not a good option. It's probably more the shoe's fault than your daughter's. Try a different shoe with better ventilation and material .

Can you rotate shoes, put them in the dryer or let them sit in the sun?

Direct sun exposure should help the mold.

You really need to throw away moldy shoes. I would recommend you buy her shoes that are more breathable. You might also try buying some of the foot inserts for adult shoes that have something like charcoal, etc and cut those to size (you might need a slightly bigger shoe, but that might be better anyways, as the problem may be that her little feet are too snug, which just makes them sweat more.

My niece had this problem and her feet smelled really bad even after a shower. My mom put arnica about twice a day. It's in a yellow little bottle usually in the hispanic isles of the store. Cvs, dollar general is where i've seen it. it smells strong but way better than smelly feet. It really works.
