I bought a moby wrap for my 3rd baby because i have a 2 yr old to chase around, and Im having a hard time getting the hang of it. The thing is HUGE snd Im pretty small, which makes it seem even bigger. Does anyone have experience with these wraps? Are they worth it to keep trying at it, or should I return it? It was $50 so if its not going be useful, I definately dont want to keep it!

What can I do next?

I had a friend give me hers and so far so good - I suggest going out to You Tube, there are a TON of moms out there showing how they wear there's. I was interested in wearing baby forward facing or on my back and was able to see videos of how to do it on You Tube. Good Luck!

I ended up selling mine for $25 after using it a few times and finding it more annoying than good. It never ended up being as tight as I wanted it too and ended up being more annoying than anything!!! I love the Target bjorn type and the Ergo much much much better!

You got it for $50? Wow I've never seen them that much. I love my sleep wrap which is like a Moby, and it's nice and easy to use. It does have a fair amount of fabric, but it's easy and has nice instructions. I do like the idea of youtube the instructions.

I loved it. I hiked with it, worked around the house and even used it when I was helping out at a school. I even used it once after he had started walking as a teather so he could not run to far away while we were sitting on the grass at a park. Expecting our second and looking for where I stored it at. Do not let the amount of fabric get overwhelming as I know it can. $50 is a bit expensive for it. Target sells them for 40.

I commited to trying mine until I got the hang of it. Once I finally could put it on right and get baby correctly possitioned, I still didn't love it. I bought the Ergo and have not looked back. The ladies who love it really love it. But I find it very inconveniant. First of all, with a new born, you don't know if they want to be held, swaddled, rocked, fed.... so you put it on, unswaddle the baby, only to realize that baby just needs to eat. Way to much effort for a new born. I may try it again when mine is older, but I don't see why I would bother when the Ergo is so fast to put on. Aslo, I couldn't do much with my arms while wearing the moby. With Ergo, I can still do chores.

The only way I could figure it out was from a YouTube video. Search for "how to wear a Moby wrap" or similar search. Good luck!

Try the Ergo! Very easy and oh, so comfortable. The moby just seemed to confusing and complicated for me.

For me there are too many steps (and too much material) for me to use it for trips to the grocery or around the house. It may be nice for all day ventures, since it supports on both shoulders. I like the ring slings for around the house and stores (especially for newborns).

So, if you don't venture out on long trips very often the $50 could be used for something more useful. However, ALL slings have a learning curve, so give them a good trial before deciding you don't like them.

I see that quite a few people have given suggestions, but thought I would give my 2 cents worth. I am short, short-waisted and big busted. So, the moby is definitely flexible enough for my shape, and I did use it has I had a that and a ring sling as my first two carriers. But, if I have a second I am not sure I will use them at all. (Here's a comparison chart of some popular brands: http://www.theportablebaby.com/carrierfeatures.html, but it does not list the two I like best.) If I had it to do all over again, I would definitely use the Mei Tai, which I got about the time my son was a year old. Wish I had it earlier. And I now have the Chunei, which IMO, has no learning curve at all. I don't know why no one I know talks about or uses this one! http://www.hosausa.com/how.html I don't think I would feel comfortable using the Ergo for a newborn, if I can tell from your profile, your baby is only like a month old. Anyway, I only used my moby for big outings where we would be walking all day. I used the ring sling for restaurants where I would be sitting with the baby. I was watching a friend of mine use her ring sling, and I realized that it didn't really work for me because I was so short-waisted, there really wasn't the right space for the baby to set in it well. So, in my situation, I would not feel comfortabel chasing a 2yo around in a ring sling. Mei Tai and Chunei would be what I recommend. The Chunei would take you from infant all the way to 3 or 4 years old.

i tried so hard to use mine, and got it down. still, i didnt like it. it was too hot for baby in warm months. it also made me hot indoors. it was so big and bulky. the knots hurt my back when i sat down. it took time to put it on. its way ugly. couldnt figure out how to nurse with it on. if i had figured that out it may have still been worth it for a new baby, as it is the only one i know of that you can nurse with. i ended up with the ergo...but it didnt work when baby was small. seemed too dangerous. the bjorn wasnt made for a baby that small either (8pounds). nest time ill get a good sling for the early stage. like the ones at dr sears.com. still kept the mosby in case i cant find one. cant live without a baby sling for each age!

I'm fairly small and I LOVE my Moby. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! :D :D It took me a long time to finally get the hang of it though. Look on YouTube. There are several videos on there. That was way easier for me to follow than the written instructions.

Personally I loved the moby when they were infants and for long trips, thought it took me two days to get the hang of how to wrap it.

I know someone who made their own wrap out of curtains she found on closeout. So if you know how to sew you could make your own out of similar fabric, with less length if you are petite.

I like the ergo more for larger toddlers.

For me the moby was hands down the most comfortable for extended wear but if you want something very easy to use check out the hotslings at target. Make sure to measure before you buy since they aren't one size fits all.
