Misery Loves Company: Please Tell Me Pregnancy Stories
I am in the first trimester of my second pregnancy and absolutely miserable with nausea. I know all the tricks but there is really nothing that helps. I'll probably be in this stage for about 7 more weeks if it follows the same course of my other pregnancy. I know the end result is so worth it, but it's hard to think of that when you just want to always throw up. Please share your stories of misery with me. It's the only thing that makes me feel better right now. (I know this is a strange request.) If you had a wonderful, easy, nausea free pregnancy, I'm happy for you, but I don't want to hear from you.
FYI: I take phenergen for nausea at night and when I tried zophran it gave me horrible diarrhea so like I said, I've tried it all. I really just want to whine. That seems to be the best medicine for me.
So What Happened?™
Thank you ladies for your sympathy and stories. I still feel like I'm going to vomit, but at least I know I am not alone.

Oh honey! My first, almost 15 yrs ago damn near killed me! I puked all day everyday and even had to keep a bucket by the bed because I would wake up out of a deep sleep to puke. From 5 wks until the boy was out of me I vomited. But it wasnt only that. Everything smelled bad and nothing tasted good. Nothing. Even candles and to this day I will puke if I smell a blueberry candle. O the misery! I lost 43 pds and back then they didn't give anything for morning sickness. I suffered through it. I never wanted to do it again but 10.5 yrs later I got preggo again and I only puked once! I didn't feel good until about 14 wks but I too had phenegran at night and after about a wk I could function and I got it at 6 weeks. Then I was starving and gained almost 70 pds! Oooppppssss! Hang in there love, I know how utterly miserable it can be!

O Gosh I am so with you on this, I am 12 weeks this week and this has by far been my worst week, and here I was thinking it would be better considering it is my last week of my 1st trimester. I was so (and still have faith) that it will just magically stop next week. The worst part is that my 1st one was a breeze I had absolutely nothing w/my first child and this one O geez I'm going on 2mths of per misery! Hang in there though and I shall do the same :) CONGRATS by the way!

When I was 4 1/2months pregnant, I fell in the backyard letting the dogs out. I was wearing nothing but a bathrobe, it was Easter & my husband was sound asleep. I tripped and fell. Couldnt stand up as my foot was bent in a weird position & turning purple. I had to crawl across the backyard and throw rocks at the bedroom window to get my hubbys attention. He finally looked out the window and came outside. He is a former emt, and the look on his face told me it was more than a sprain. I'm dramatic and insisted I was dying ( I wasnt) and 911 had to be called. 10min later here came 6 of the sexiest firemen abq has to come help carry my big fat pregnant half undressed pathetic looking me to the car ( an ambulance wasnt available) Got to the er, turns out I broke my foot, crushed my ankle, and broke my leg in 3 places. I had to have surgery the next morning. I ended up having 2 more surgeries all while pregnant, couldnt walk or even stand for 4months. I had my last surgery 13days before my induction. I was able to walk for the first time on aug 14th, on aug 15th my induction began, I had a c-section on the 17th. Between being pregnant, being pregnant with twins, and being broken I had 3-5 drs appts every week, took craploads of medication for pain, nasuea, constipation & bloodthinners ( which left me brusied and in even more pain) Couldnt do anything myself, I had to rely on everyone I knew which was one of the hardest things I have even done Im very independant. I was a miserable person for several months, but forgot all of it the moments they handed my twins to me :) I hope my misery makes you feel better!

I was super sick for 2 weeks straight with my first pregnancy. I was about 8 weeks pregnant, working at a temp job for the summer, and someone popped a bag of popcorn. It did me in. I ran to the bathroom, puked, sat back down, someone else opened a sub at their desk, ran back to the bathroom and puked again. This cycle went on for about 4 days before I finally had to quit. The girl who was my supervisor said she knew I was pregnant because the same thing happened to her. I'll never forget her saying, you'll get over it eventually, but your life is gonna suck for a couple weeks. She was 100% right.
All foods made me gag and then barf. It was so bad that any smells from food would send me straight to the bathroom to puke. I subsisted on ginger ale and maybe 1 sleeve of saltines for 2 weeks. My husband had to cook all his meals outside on the grill for those two weeks. And he ate most of them out there too in the hot, humid weather here in SC! He was so happy the day I finally got up and went into the kitchen for the first time in a LONG time to get a drink of water. He whispered, "can I eat inside now?" :)
Hope you feel better soon! I found out with my 2nd pregnancy that if I kept a little something in my stomach at all times, I was less likely to actually puke. So I became a "snacker" the first trimester and it helped a lot. I was constantly eating little bites of saltines, ginger ale, and grits. (I'm a southern girl.) :) Good luck and congrats!

Not a nausea complaint, but a further along back pain one. for 6 weeks during the second trimester, when everything is supposed to be golden and easy, I had a bad case of sciatica. Couldn't manage to walk, sit, stand, or lay down without pain. I am petite to start with, and wasn't yet looking pregnant, just fat. Had to face an hour long commute each way via subway and path from queens to NJ, on my feet during rush hour. Commuters paid me no heed, and some had the gall to purposely elbow my very slow moving self as they rushed past. The pain, jarring, bad attitudes, and hormones had me reduced to tears both ways.
Good luck, you won't be pregs forever.

Well, I had the unending nausea from about 5 weeks (?) until the day they were delivered. And my first child was 10 days late. So.... how does that make you feel? :)
Just a few more weeks.. lol
I woke up every morning to head straight into the toilet to throw up stomach acid for about 15 minutes. Dry heaves really. Every. Day. For the Entire. Pregnancy. Both. Times. And after the dry heaves were over first thing in the morning? The nausea stayed anyway. All. Day. All. Night. 24/7 for The. Entire. Pregnancy. Both. Times.
Zofran helped a little with the 2nd pregnancy... helped me be functional. I was finally able to stand up long enough to take a shower every other day!! WOO HOO.
My wonderful husband (with our first pregnancy) would get up and make me (runny) scrambled eggs for breakfast. He could NOT understand that a plate full of under cooked eggs was NOT what I wanted to see or eat after dry heaving stomach acid in the bathroom! It's the thought that counts, though, right? lol
Sucking on lemon drops at least helped keep that nasty taste at bay some of the time....
I hope you feel better soon!

I hear you girl!! I had severe nausea and vomiting with this one from 6 to 17 weeks. Nothing stayed down, not one bite during that time and I tried everything.
I even had a bad reaction to the sea sickness bands,I am in a small % where your arms swell LOL.
Now I am 30 weeks along and get sick around twice a week which is fine to cope with. The rest of the time I eat what I want and all the naughty stuff as I can due to all the weight I lost. I am actually alot slimmer now at 30 weeks gone than before I got preggers.
My pelvis is out so bad pain down my legs and feet. I have too much stretching in my pubic bone so I feel at times a bone is going to protrude out my vagina.I was also told that I am group B strep positive so I have to rush in for IV antibiotics as soon as labour starts.
So the good news, the severe nausea Does pass,it either completely goes or lessens.
Best of luck.

I'm sure this heat isn't helping you AT ALL. Have you tried Phenergan? My friend would have to basically have to have a 'spitoon' in her car just to drive to work. I have another friend who said she was on her couch with a bucket (an two other little ones!) for the first two months. Good luck. At least you know the end is near, but not soon enough, I'm sure.
