Have any of you had successful term pregnancies while having a diagnosis of herpes?
I know it's kind of personal. Feel free to message me. I have had 2 miscarriages that I attribute to herpes. I know the the medical community says you shouldn't have a miscarriage as long as you don't have your very first outbreak during pregnancy. Just curious if anyone has had successful pregnancies with the dreaded herpes virus.

S.,
I have had three successful term pregnancies with having the herpes virus. Actually, I've been very bless and never experience the loss of a miscarriage. My sisters, have 3 of them, none have herpes that I know of, all had at least one miscarriage, my one sister had several. I also wanted to let you know that I didn't have any problems with delivery either, one was c-section, but he was my last and I had the other two vaginal that when my doctor said I could have a c-section I wanted it...
God bless, I know it has to be very hard losing your unborn babies. My prayers go out to you.

Having the Herpes Virus has no bearing on your ability to get pregnant. However, there are other concerns. If you are in outbreak while in delivery, you can give it to your child. Regardless, there are options.

I have had Shingles for 18 years. (Chicken Pox, Shingles and Herpes are all the same virus and can all be treated with Valtrex.)

I started going to a clinic that kills these viruses!!!
The treatment is not cheap but is very much worth every penny.
I have been off of the medicine for a month now and have NOT had an outbreak!

S., I have worked in a OB office for 8 years and I never have heard a patient have a miscarriage due to the herpes viris. Being pregnant and the herpes viris are two different issues that will not cause a miscarriage. If your active with the viris when you go into labor, chances are you will have a c-section. But if your not active with the viris during labor, you can have the baby vaginal. Hope this helps.

Hi S.,

My sister has herpes and was able to delivery a healthy baby girl 8 yrs ago. She has never experienced any miscarriages. I on the other hand do not have herpes and have unfortunately experienced two miscarriages. One after my first pregnancy and the second after my second child was born. I have however deliverd three healthy babies despite the miscarriages so don't lose hope!
It's so easy to blame ourselves when things go wrong with a pregnancy but you can't blame yourself. When your body is ready to be pregnant, it will. You might want to look into some help with your OB if you experience another one. I'm so sorry for your loss and I hope you never have to go through that again. As hard as it is, if you're meant to carry a child you will. Good luck & best wishes to you!

I work in the newborn industry and have personally never heard of herpes virus affecting the success of a full term pregnancy. (I believe you are already hearing this!) One thing I would highly recommend, however, is seeing an alternative doctor and having your estrogen checked. High estrogen levels have sometimes been linked to miscarriages. And I say "alternative" because I also highly recommend you treat this holistically. I do have firsthand experience with changes in body chemistry and hormones affecting my ability to get pregnant and know about it affecting a man's ability to get his wife pregnant. The doctor I would highly recommend is Dr. Rodney Russell in Southlake at ###-###-####.

Best to you!

Has your doctor checked your progesterone levels immediately after learning you're pregnant? I know several women who have issues with progesterone levels being too low which causes them to miscary. Because my sister who went through infertility had low progesterone, when I learned I was pregnant (at 4 weeks) I went in immediately and had the same problem. Thankfully there's a perscription you can take to help bring up those levels to maintain pregnancy until 12 weeks when the baby starts thriving from their umbilical cord. Just a thought.

Hi S.! I personally don't have experience with this, however I have a great friend that does have the virus and she has had two successful full term pregnancies. The children are both healthy with no issues of their own. Have you asked your physition if there could be anything else going on? Also, I had a girlfriend that had some issues getting pregnant just because her body was fighting the pregnancy as if it was a sickness. Sometimes your body will do that as well just because it doesn't know whats going on. Stay hopeful, everything will turn out...

S., I have been a labor and deliver nurse for over 10yrs, and have delivered many healthy babies whose mom's had the herpes virus...some with an active outbreak, by C-Section, and others without active breakouts by vaginal delivery. I have never heard of the herpes virus causing miscarriages. I'm sorry for your losses! I know that is very heartbreaking.

S., I am sorry about your miscarriages, I just want to share that if you are open to a safe and effective nutritional supplements that a lot of prenant women have been taking in place of the prenatal vitamin for their OB, that may help, I will be happy to share more details.

Wishing you all the very best.

I do not have any info about herpes, sorry. But I did want to tell you that maybe you should talk to your OB about recurrent pregnancy loss testing. They will test you for many blood clotting disorders and auto immune disorders etc. You could have another issue that is effecting your pregnancies. I have been there many many times, so feel free to message me if you have any questions or need to talk.

HI S.,
I am so sorry for your losses...I have never had the herpes virus...however I had 2 miscarriages prior to carrying 3 beautiful daughters. My first miscarriage I was one month along, the second I was 3 months along. I found out that my blood type (O Neg aka RH NEG) was not compatable with my husband's blood type (A Pos) I had to get Rogame (spelling?) shots in order to carry all three of my girls. They draw some of your blood and mix it with that Rogame and then give you that formula back as a shot in the hip/rear area...it hurts too as it is very thick. Have the doctor's check you & your husband's blood type to see if this may be the reason. Best wishes to you and your future children!

Sorry to hear about your miscarriages. I am in the same boat as you with the dreaded herpes and I had a successful first time pregnancy. My son is now 13 months and is as healthy as ever. I fortunately never had an outbreak during my pregnancy or during delivery b/c my ob had me on valtrex during my third tri-mester. Hope this helps you.
