Miscarrage? - Charlotte,NC

OK, so back in October I had a very early miscarriage. So I got pregnant again on February 26th and am about 10 days late for my period. I am pregnant. However I woke up this morning and all of the sudden my breasts are not sore any more. I was still really tired this morning, but no tenderness. This is what happened last time. My question is, is this another miscarriage? I have an appointment on Monday with my midwife, but I would rather just not go.

What can I do next?

I had an early miscarriage in Sept, and just had another one as well. So if that is what is happening to you, you are not alone.

Can your midwife do blood tests? In addition to testing HCG have her test progesterone also. If it is too low then you can supplement with Prometrium. I had 4 confirmed miscarriage and several possible ones before I found out about low progesterone. With my last pregnancy I used Prometrium as a vaginal suppository twice a day for the first 14 weeks and had no problems. Low progesterone is a common cause of miscarriage that a lot of doctors either don't know about, ignore or think that supplementation doesn't work. In my opinion it can't hurt and I firmly believe that it helped me carry by baby to full term. My cousin also needed progesterone supplementation to keep from losing her baby. Make sure it is Prometrium and not Provera. Prometrium is a natural progesterone made from the blood of pregnant horses. Provera is synthetic and not only doesn't work as well but can have side effects for you and birth defects for the baby. It can be taken orally, as a shot or as a suppository. I chose the suppository because if places the progesterone right where it is needed at the opening to the uterus rather than having to go thru the digestive system or the blood first. This cuts down on not only the amount you need but also on unwanted side effects.

I'm sorry S. but there is just no way for anyone to know here. It may or may not be a miscarriage. No two pregnancies are alike. Maybe your midwife canmake some suggestions that I don't know of, since she is familiar with your specific case. I also had a miscarriage back in November so I understand what you are going through. I would take it easy and just proceed as normal. If you are going to miscarry, at this point, there is nothing you can do to stop it. If you start having cramping accompanied with bleeding call your midwife and let her know, you should still be checked out even if you do miscarry. I hope I am not being harsh, my heart goes out to you and I hope that you are able to carry the pregnancy to term. I will keep you in my thoughts.

Don't fret. It may not be another miscarriage. Every pregnancy is totally different. I'm on my third pg. First one was a miscarriage, second and third are fine.
The miscarriage I had sore boobs and they also stopped being sore when I began to miscarry. My second one...no soreness at all! My 3rd one, sore boobs off and on and I'm 31 weeks...so no miscarriage obviously.

I would just pay close attention to your body and see if you start to exhibit other signs (cramping, spotting, bleeding, etc).

Good luck! I hope everything goes well.

Miscarriages can be devastating. If you are 10 days late for your period go and get a home pregnancy test and see what it says. Or did you already do this? I am pregnant with my 3rd pregnancy (1 live and 1 miscarriage) and I have breast tenderness off and on. By no means is the lack of tenderness a sign of a miscarriage. Have you had any bleeding? By no means should you skip your appointment Monday, go and see what she says. Miscarriage or not you need to be examined. I have no experience with midwifes, but are you planning on seeing OB? Good luck with what happens on Monday.

I felt different every day when I was pregnant. Even if you are having a miscarriage which I don't necessarily think you are you should see your midwife to rule out anything else. Also they might be able to do some tests that will tell you why you are having issues and in the future you could carry a baby to term. I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I miscarried my first pregnancy. Until that experience I had no idea how common it is. Especially on first pregnancies. After that I carried my son to term with no complications. I guess I am saying that there are many of us who have experienced a loss and you are not alone. Also you will be able to have a healthy happy baby someday. Good Luck.

I'm sorry for your loss. I've been here. Please go to the appt., everything may be fine and if it is not then you can discuss and possibly find out why this is happening. You will also have a support system should you need it. I wish you a healthy pregnancy and am here to say that because I took the time to go to some appts and discuss things with my OBGYN, I have a beautiful daughter. But, it was not without the pain and sadness of my loss and my struggle, but having her here was worth it all. Also, don't diagnose this pregnancy based on the last one because all are different and again, this pregnancy may be okay. Many blessings.

When you say you are pregnant, do you mean that you have confirmed the pregnancy with a test? Even if so, there are no 'definite' signs of miscarriage. Pregnancy symptoms may come and go, even in a normal pregnancy. Fading of pregnancy symptoms MIGHT mean miscarriage, but it's not a 'for sure' thing. Even heavy bleeding, sometimes, does not mean the end of a pregnancy. You should follow up on your appointments regardless, and good luck to you.

Heather,
I had 2 miscarriages as well and I know the devastation that comes along with that. My third pregnancy was successful and I had sore breasts for the first few days and that was it. No morning sickness, nothing. So it may very well be that things are just fine. I am sure you are anxious. I would ask for your HCG levels to be tested just for your peace of mind. Best of luck and keep us posted!

Go and get check out. Just to be on the safe side. I had 2 miscarriage but I am not sure. 2 months and 3 months on the 3 try at 4 month doctor said I will have a miscarriage but I did not. They put me on bed rest and in the 5 month l got off but had to take it easy. I follow doctors order to the later.

Now I am working on #2

they said I was not going to have kids but God is good.

Hi S.:
I had 4 miscarriages early on from 2002-2006. I will tell you that once you have a miscarriage, your mind can go into panic-mode when your symptoms change. When you go to your midwife tomorrow, she will probably order your HCG levels to be checked and checked again later in the week. This will show that they are rising and everything is fine. Also, if you are not cramping or bleeding, things are probably fine. I had to really work on my thinking during the early stages of my pregnancies to overcome the fear and worry that would come upon me. It is normal, but not good for you or the baby to dwell in that kind of thinking. When I was pregnant with our 2nd daughter (she is now 15 mos), at only 7 weeks along, I stopped having morning sickness. Poof, it was gone, and I really got worried at first. I learned to tell myself "nothing is wrong, until something is wrong (like bleeding or cramping, but I was worried)" and I had to force myself not to think about the "what-ifs." We have 2 1/2 year old and 15 month old daughters and I am due any day with a baby boy. I hope this helps and I will be praying for you.
