Minium Age to Be with Mom at Delivery

Does anyone know the minimum age a child must be in order to be in the labor and delivery room. My friend has a 3 year old son that she and her husband plan to have inthe room with them during labor and delivery.

What can I do next?

I am not sure what the minimum age is but I agree with one of the ladies who have already responded...

"Have they thought about their son?" (meant in the nicest way possible)

When I had my son my sister who was 21 at the time was in the delivery room with me. She evidently went back to my father's house and had a little bit of a break down.

I think that toddlers are too young to see something that affecting. :)

I don't think it matters when i had my second child my son who was 2.5 was in with us. I also had my mom in there so either my husband or my mom was watching him. They never said anything about it. I think it just depends on the place she delivers.

There is no minimum age, although it is recomemded that young children are in the waiting room during the birth, so that they may not be tramutized. At that age they are to young to understand that mommy is going to be ok, plus should any complications arise it might scare him.

When I had my daughter my son was in the delivery room, up untill it was time to push and then a couple of our friends and family members watched him in the waiting room. That is an option they might want to consider.

Every hospital is different She will have to ask them, in order to know.
:) Have a great day!

I don't know the minimum age, but (I mean this the nicest way possible) have they thought about their son? I mean that is a lot for someone to deal with at such a young and tender age! That may be a like traumatic for him to go through! I just hope they think about him before they make any sudden decisions!

Just a cautious and concerned mom!
