My baby is 2.5 months old and my husband doesnt want me to take the stroller! It really will take up too much space for much needed luggage. My friend and I have a shopping day planned. Has anyone taken a baby shopping all day in a moby wrap? LOL! This sounds like a pain! What if I have to pee!! Is there anyway I can live without the stroller? I want to go on walks too and Im afraid the moby wrap will be too hot! Im crazy to not bring the stroller arent I?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I have a lightweight stroller, still takes up a lot of space, but I think my babe might be a little too small for an umbrella stroller.

I am sorry, but your hubby is crazy for not allowing you to bring the stroller!!! You need to bring it---the moby is fine for carrying baby around, but you may want to put the baby down sometime- Tell him he needs to be creative and find a way for stroller to fit. Even if you have to strap it to the top of the car---lol- GL

I think you and the baby will be sweating bullets if that's your only option for the day. Yes, an infant shouldn't be in an umbrella stroller until s/he is an independent sitter.

Can you minimize your luggage by cutting down on clothes and instead plan to do laundry at your destination? Or, does your friend have room to pack a stroller in her car?

see if there is one you can borrow from someone. Even if it is a friend of a friend. I often loan out my pack n play when friends have friends visiting. Sometimes the mall has rentals but I do not think they are good for baby. Maybe there is a consignment shop locally where you are traveling that will let you "rent" it from. (you may have to buy it at first and then return it for a partial refund) Might be the same for a thrift store. (But I bet the consignment shop will be cleaner). Either way grab a pack of disinfecting wipes and give it a good rub down before you use it. I am sure you would regret not having a stroller at that age.

I love my Moby Wrap, but the only downfall that I have found about baby wearing is the heat factor. Right now there is a heat wave sweeping the country, and it might not be safe to carry your child with all that extra fabric and body heat. Good luck!

We went to Hawaii with a 3 year old and a 9 month old. I packed TWO strollers and took them with me. Talk about cramped car! But I wouldn't have done it differently....

Well some malls have stroller rentals, just like wheelchair rentals. Or free. I don't know. I know 12 Oaks malls info desk has wheelchairs available, so I would think strollers too. Probably free.
So if you're going to an area and you and your friend are going to the mall, that's probably going to be available.

Take an umbrella stroller. they make umbrella strollers the baby can lay down in. They are lightweight and take up very little room. I always had mine one in the trunk. You never know when it will come in handy.

I think your baby will be happier in the Moby but one possibility is to buy a cheap, even used, stroller when you get there then donate it when you leave.

One of my favorite things of having a stroller is the additional storage. It may be difficult having the baby in the moby wrap, carrying your diaper bag AND shopping bags all day. I'm a big proponent of the stroller. Your husband sounds like mine when it comes to strollers! LOL. Have a good vacay!

I used a sling until he was one and now I use the stroller only if we are going over a mile. If you are going shopping then you are going to be indoors and in the air-conditioning. You can rent a stroller at the mall or cary the baby.

I babywear my guys full-time when they're little, so I don't think you'd be crazy for skipping it. I've never had any problem going to the restroom while wearing a baby, but if that's an issue it sounds like you could trade off holding the baby with your shopping buddy.

But if you depend on the stroller, then bring it.

Do any of your friends or their friends have a stroller you can borrow for the day?

Some umbrella strollers fold up very compact - http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=342085...

Yes you are crazy. :) Can you get a small umbrella stroller. They're cheap and don't take up much room in the car. Then you can have it if you need it.

Well, my initial response is that you're both nuts! A stroller is essential. I would pack less and shop less before I'd go anywhere without my kids' stroller.

I am not certain of the temperatures where you are, but around here it's been too hot to carry a baby around in a sling or wrap all day. But I also don't know what kind of shopping you have planned. All day in one giant, air-conditioned mall? Many malls and shopping centers have trolleys you can rent. Does your baby have an infant carrier that latches on to a shopping cart?

If you're not going to take a stroller, I make certain you have another option in addition to the wrap. Otherwise, practice your packing and loading strategies.
