It's ok, my daughter didnt sit up very well unassisted until she was about 8 months. She actually crawled before she really mastered sitting up. It is normal and he sounds like he is on the right track.
Good luck!!

Its OK. Kids develop in a variety of different ways. My son would not crawl when he was about that age, but he developed a kind of scooting movement to get around. By the time that you son is 9 months to a year, you will see big changes in his abilities. So no need to worry.

I would give it more time. I have 2 babies everyday and they are 8 and 9 months. They each do things a little differently. Each has things they have done faster than the other. My grandson seems to be planning to learn to stand up and walk and he has NEVER even attempted to crawl. I have another 9 month old at night that is standing up in her crib and crawling all over the place.
It's all okay usually. It's good to just keep an eye on things and if you are concerned, bring it up when you go to your normal check ups.

I say they're all different. If he's happy and seems fine in every other way, I wouldn't worry. Of course, mention it at your next physical as you would any concern. My daughter wasn't sitting on her own until she was almost 8 months. With my twins, 1 sat at 6 months and the other at 9 months, but then he went straight to standing and walking...never crawled or anything. The one that sat first, refused to walk until she was 15 months. I'm sure he's fine.

They are all different. Especially the way they reach milestones in the first two years. I would just ask the doctor at the next appointment which I'm sure will be soon with all the immunizations babies get the first year.

My 7 month old is not sitting up unsupported yet, but is holding her bottle, scooting and trying to actually crawl. She is much diffrent then her sister who was walking at 7 months and was sitting at 4! Crawled at 4.5 months! Each child is diffrent and trust me I worry about her milestones so much its crazy, but then I go to work and see she is right in the norm! Meaning they all learn diffrent. Good luck :)

Every child is so different. I wouldn't worry about it (coming from a mom who worries about every milestone!). My oldest could technically sit up at 6 months or so if really distracted, but had no interest whatsoever, so never got the practice in. He straightened out and was so stiff that we couldn't even get him in the sitting position. He did it when he was ready, around 8 1/2 months or so. I realized with my second that he just does things when he is ready and don't stress nearly as much and he ends up figuring out so much on his own that I spent hours trying to 'teach' to my first.

Hi there. I just went through this exact same situation recently. My baby was 8 months old and not sitting for more than a few seconds by himself without toppling over. I tried not to worry about it, but couldn't help it. My 3 1/2 year old son was sitting by 6 1/2 months too. Just as I was considering calling the doctor, my 8 month old started sitting for longer stretches and then within a week, he was sitting completely unsupported. It can happen so quickly once they master a new skill like that, and it's likely that your baby will be sitting just fine soon too.
I wish you all the best!
