Might Be Moving to Leola-help!

Hi! I would agree Universal would be your closest and best bet for a fitness center. I grew up in Leola and it's much more rural than Long Island and you will probably have to drive a bit further to things here, than in LI. Conestoga Valley is a decent school district, although not the richest in the county and probably one of the smaller ones. there is also Lancaster Catholic if you would choose to send your kids to a private school.
the pace is definetely slower here than Long Island, if that's what you want. I"m a stay at home mom too (mostly) and I have found enough to do with kind neighbors and friends and programs for toddlers etc at nearby churches and libraries.

Hi T.! Welcome to Lancaster County! It is a great place to live. I think you will love living in Leola. Bareville is just a tiny area in Leola. I hope you did not purchase a Keystone home. There are so many "Better" builders than Keystone. Anyway, a Curves is in Ephrata, a 10 minute commute for you. It is a nice commute, though. Your school district may be Brownstown Elementary. I have only heard good things about them. I am also alittle over 40, with a 2 year old son and a 6 year old son. If you need my help with anything, please email me. I live in the neighboring of Ephrata and the Rec Center there a fitness center that offers classes, childcare, preschool, swim lessons for kids (and adults), etc.
If you would move to the Brownstown area, that might be a more reasonable option for you. http://www.ephratarec.com/

I had emailed you awhile ago and gave you info. I myself am an Italian orig from Long Island and LOVE it in Leola. No, there are no Ballys Fitness clubs, this is a very amish populated area and it is quiet and peaceful. Lots of farm land but we are not too far away from gyms on route 30 and in neighboring towns. Leola elementary is a fine school as is Brownstown. We used to be Catholic and now are Christians, the catholic church is in New Holland which is a stones throw from Leola. Universal Fitness gym on route 272 has a daycare for members. It is maybe 20 minutes from my home in Leola. I have been in PA for over 20 years and no one could pay me any amount of money to move back to Long Island. It is too hectic, expensive and the people are so different than they are here. It is family oriented and conservative here and it is a great environment for children to grow up in. There is a HUGE difference in a 14 year old girl from LI than a 14 year old girl from here (I have 14 year old cousins in LI). So, if you like LI and the hustle bustle of it you will be bored here although I am not and I love it! Let me know if I can help more!
