Middle Name for My Baby?
I'm naming my baby boy due in less than 8 weeks Xavier. I don't have middle name for him. Last name starts with an M.
What do you think of Trace? It would be after my mother Tracy who passed away 12 years ago. My brother just gave his baby girl the middle name Tracy though so i dont know. I have so much on my mind i just cant think of a name.
So What Happened?™
Thank you everyone. I think i'll use it!

Sounds great together! Go for it!
I gave my daughter a middle name to honor my deceased mother and I'm so glad I did.

I think it sounds great together. The cousins will have similar middle names but who uses middle names all the time anyway. They will have a common bond with the grandma they never got to meet.

I love the name Trace! Even for a first name! That is so strong and not like like an overdone one. I like Chase as well or last names like Reed, Foster,
etc..

If you really want to honor her then legally use it as a first name. Trey is a very appropriate substitution (and nice sounding). Trey Xavier M.... I always like 4 letter names for boys for some reason. Girls can handle long names. Plus, in arizona there are so many boys named xavier (there is even a girl's school in phoenix called xavier). I vote for Trey, your family will appreciate it and see a little of your mom in him everytime they hear it and have inside meaning. Xavier, a Catholic latino name, will please his family more and gives him an external label without getting to know him first.
My 3rd child's midle name wasn't given till almost a week later (i wanted to use my brothers middle name and waited for permission, which i finally got. Even though i knew he was going to say yes i still thought it best to ask for the long run). You just need the names before you leave the hospital otherwise there is an extra step, a hassle, for the birth certificate.

A middle name is a great way to honor someone and have an unusual name b/c your child will rarely use it but it will still be special.
Personally, I like Xavier Trace so I say go for it! It's not like you will have Trace and Tracy hanging out together.... both middle names and both honoring someone very special to the parents.

My brother and I both have the same middle name for our daughters in honor of our mother who passed away when we were 16 and 18. At first I thought he and his wife would be upset about it..not sure why cause we get along so great...anyway they thought it was really awesome. It was an emotional moment between the two of us. We decided that it's a family name and hope our kids will use it to. My niece thinks it's really cool that her and her cousin have the same middle name.
