Microderm Abrasion

Is it effective for making skin look better? How does it feel? How long do the positive results seem to last? Or how frequently do you get it done?

My skin is okay, but I could use a freshen up kind of treatment and this seems to fit the bill.

What can I do next?

I think tony may be talking about an acid peel... my friends sister did it years ago b/c she had really bad acne marked skin... and yes it's horrible and didn't really do much.

I did not think that microdermabrasion did much at all. You should look into light chemical peels-they cost the same and are so much more effective. I get Vitalize peels and they are wonderful. The only side effect is after a few days your skin peels similiar to a sunburn peel. I get my peels on a Wed so by the time it starts to peel it is the weekend. They don't hurt at all and they really make your skin look great.

I have been doing facials for years but got literally HOOKED on mirco treatments. They cost about the same but the results are AMAZING.

I'm assuming you know how it all works and your face will be sensitive for a few hours afterwards. It's SOOOO worth it. One of my friends thought I was her age (mid 30s) and I had to CONVINCE her I was 43.

As soon as I can find time for my next one, I'm making an appointment ASAP!

I love the microdermabrasion from Mary Kay. It's a less expensive way to treat yourself to the benefits of the treatment. You scrub the exfoliater on for a couple of minutes, rinse it off (really well) and then put on a gentle, soothing serum to keep your face from being mad at you. ;)

I'd love to let you try it out! Check out my website and give me a call: www.marykay.com/jblack2012. MK way = try before you buy!

Hello,
I think Toni may be talking about something else. There shouldn't be any pain or recovery time involved...if there is, then I would think the person running the machine is completely unqualified. I have had two recent microderms with a peel (they can do them together). I was a little red right after, but it didn't hurt. You may peel, or flake, as I did a couple days later, but after that I loved it. My mom actually accused me of getting Botox! I had not been taking very good care of my skin for awhile due to mommy duties, so I really noticed a big difference after getting them. I purchased a package of three because I had some dark spots from pregnancy. They have lightened quite a bit. I am thinking that three will be enough to achieve what I want, and then maybe I'll go back a couple times a year. (Right now, I'm doing them one month apart.) Hope that helps!! Don't be scared...the microderm feels like a deep exfoliation but if it is too strong, they can turn it down. But honestly, I don't think it's uncomfortable at all. The peel, if you decide to do that, can burn for a few minutes, but that wasn't bad either. And I have sensitive skin :)

The light no down time self adjusting chemical peels are the best. They do make a difference. Go somewhere that is associated with a dermatologist's office.

Honestly after 6 treatments I really didn't see a difference. I would use something abrasive maybe once a week at home when you wash your face. Same goes for laser hair removal - a waste of time and money! Four years later I am NOT hair free.

I have been taking my teen boys to a dermatologist to get microderm abrasion. It has been wonderful for their acne and blackheads. I really recommend it for teen skin for that purpose.

I have not done it myself, but I am sure that it's probably great for our skin too.
