Miami or South Broward Park for a Birthday Party?

I am looking for input about having a 1st birthday party at an outdoor pavillion in Miami or South Broward. There would be about 7 children (including the one year old!) who range in age from 3-9. The rest are adults. I would like the kids to have fun, but the adults to be comfortable. Which pavillions/parks do you find to be the nicest in these areas?Or...any other suggestions? We don't want to spend too much so we though a nice outdoor picnic-y gathering as opposed to a catered restaurant. And, since it is at the end of September, we are HOPING maybe it is cooler and okay to be outside? Am I crazy? :) Thanks!

There is a BRAND NEW BEAUTIFUL Park in West Miramar. It's the new Miramar Regional Park. It's just off of Miramar Parkway and 172nd, a little west of i-75 and Miramar Pkwy. Behind the shopping plazas. They have 2 HUGE canopied Playgrounds, tot lot and playground for older kids too. Rock climbers, the rubber ground and sand. It's a Great park, very clean and new. It has the canopy for shade, and is fenced in, but has a lake, so even when we went a few weeks ago theres a nice cool breeze. You don't feel the heat as much with the canopy and the breeze from the lake.

You might want to call them soon though, because it seems like they've already got a few bookings. I just reserved one pavilion for my daughters b-day in Nov. and they did have, but not the one I wanted for Saturday, so I got it for Sunday.

I don't remember the exact price, but I think we paid 207$ but that included the deposit of $67.50 and tax. I think the actual rental is $135. That was for a medium pavilion for 150 people and has 1 of the playgrounds right next to it. There is a smaller one, that would probably be less, and i think it holds up to 50 people, and it's not far from the playground.

I had my older daughter's first birthday party at A.D. Barnes Park at 3401 S.W. 72nd Avenue (off of Bird & 72nd). Shelter #2 is the one we rented and it was great. The cost was $225.00 total but $75.00 of that was the security deposit which was returned. It's on the lake and has a big picnic area on the left as well as a large gathering area on the right that was perfect for a bar-b-que or just a gathering for the adults. The picnic area on the right already has a bar-b-que area but we opted to have a catering company that brought their own so that the smoke did not get all over the guests. My daughter's birthday was in October and it was perfect weather, I don't know about September though since it's been so hot this summer. Good luck and I hope this helps!

My favorite spot ever! South Broward in Hollywood. This summer I did 2 parties at West Lake Park on Sheridan Street East of US 1. They have a beautiful setup: sprinkler park for the kids, covered pavilions, volleyball, tennis, basketball courts, kyak and canoe rental, bbq, lots of tables/benches, swings, slides, it was breezy being near the water, and is inexpensive to reserve. The park reserves spots in advance so contact them asap!

I don't know if you know about C.B. Smith Park, I had my daughter's first birthday there, I did not rent a shelter but you can, but I don't think you would need one if it is not to many people and you get there early and get a good spot, I got one next to the park so the bigger kids would be entertainted,I did not spent too much. The party came out great, hopefully your party comes out good too, Good Luck!!!

CB Smith Park has plenty of pavillions. It is off of Flamingo Rd just north of Pines Blvd, East of I75.

Try the West Miramar Regional Park, it's brand new and it's got two great- covered playgrounds along with lots of covered picnic tables, etc. It's off Miramar Parkway and the I-75.
Good luck.

I would check with CB Smith Park and Markham Park. CB Smith has pavillions next to playgrounds which would be a lot of fun for the youngsters.

Good Luck and Have Fun!
