Methods for Conceiving a Baby Girl

If I recall correctly, my perinatologist (high-risk obstetrician) told me that there is not way to guarantee a girl, other than PGD, which is VERY expensive (usually $2,000 to $5,000).

I always thought that I would have girls (perhaps because almost all the kids born into my family are girls), but I had two boys and won't have any more due to my age. It's OK, though.

I have 2 boys and #3 was an oops-and a girl. So, how I got a girl-I was taking birth control pills, no prenatal vitamins, and I had lots of margaritas on 4th of July. Some how I got pregnant and had a healthy baby girl on Valentine's day.

I wouldn't recommend my method. But, it worked for me.

I tried the ovulation calendar method like some who mentioned here and it really worked for me. For example, if you know for certain that you're going to ovulate on a SATURDAY, begin trying that week before Saturday...up until Wednesday only. It takes a few days for the girl chromosome to make it to the egg when Saturday finally arrives. And by then, the boy chromosome would have died off.

So for example, try to conceive on the Sun., Mon, Tues., and Wed...BEFORE your ovulation is due. NO sex on Thurs., Fri., and Sat., including the week after Saturday). If you're still not pregnant, wait until the next ovulation date. Having sex in the morning is best (well, I hear). It also helps if you have a regular menstruation (not always late, or etc.), that way you're almost always certain when you're going to ovulate.

My first was a girl which was what we wanted...and that was my schedule. For a boy, we tried up until the day of ovulation. And our second is a boy.

I had a boy first and love him dearly, but REALLY wanted a girl too. My friend told me about an acient chinese birth chart that is supposed to be extremely accurate...it is!!! I had my girl after using the chart to conceive during the correct month according to my age. GOOD LUCK!!!

OK so this advise is far from scientific... but it made our local paper. They had an article that said boys are conceived if the woman has an orgasam and girls are conceived if the woman never gets there.... I loved the story because it was funny but we have a boy and twin girls, and its true for us and I told some other frinds who also believe it could be the case (1 friend 3 girls,1 friend 3 boys). Anyways its entertaining.

Sure, I have tons of experience trying to conceive a baby girl, right from baby #1. I read every book on the subject, searched the internet, tried all the old wives tales as well as all the new methods. I am now the mom of four boys. :0)

This will sound funny, but many friends of mine have consulted the Chinese Lunar Calendar/Chart to figure out when they would have a boy or a girl. You would look up your age on the chart and by month, it gives you the sex that your baby would be if conceived in that month. What's funny is that every time someone I know is pregnant, they'll ask me to look up what the baby's sex will be on the chart, and it has always been right. Very strange! :) Good luck!

I was told that a girl egg lasts longer in the egg cycle and if you know when you ovulate, have intercourse at the last moment and chances are higher to have a girl. Take that advice with a grain of salt...all my, and my husbands siblings, including us, have ALL BOYS-11 total....no girls : )

My opinion is that you can't create the gender you want naturally, but you can do more to attract anything you want with positive thinking and living joyfully. Best of luck to you - I hope you get the little girl that you want! We have a daughter and would love to have a son next.

I really really really wanted a daughter when I got pregnant. Every single Chinese medicine "test" that we did came up boy, boy, boy. The calendar, checking pulse, etc. Then when we had an ultrasound we found that we were having a girl! So just keep positive thoughts in your head, think of having a girl, and relax and enjoy!

I have two girls, and when they were conceived, we had intercourse a couple of days before I ovulated. We weren't trying for a girl, that's just what we were blessed with. Good luck! :)

i recently read in the newspaper that there is a new study out that says the more protein you have in your diet while you are pregnant, the more chances you have of having a boy. therefore the less protein you eat, the greater your chances of having a girl. obviously you don't want to give up all protein, but maybe cut back where you can (red meat, etc.) and substitute lighter forms of protein.

Hi S., I now about about wanting a baby girl, but my advice to you is just let it happen naturally, I know there are some Ideas that people believe you can determin the sex of your baby, what works for one person may not work for another, our children are conceived out of making love to our spouses, I would just hate for you to try something and then be dissapointed, you know I had 2 boys first then got my daughter, so that;s my advice, and it' only advice, I pray you get your little girl. I am in your same boat! I have a 7 year old and a 2 year old, both BOYS! I need a girl! I have done a decent amount of research and found some very interesting facts. Alot of people have already given you the advise I have found, but I did learn a way to help lower your ph levels, certain vitamins. 1200 mg calcium, 600 mg magnesium, acidilophilus, 100 mg b6, 1500-10000 mg cranberry a day. Right after my period ends I start this regimine. If I am not at the right ph a few days before ovulation, kick up the mg of cranberry, take it a couple of times through out the day till you ovutate. I have only tried this for a few months, with no pregnancy yet, but it usually takes me a long time to concieve! I also do a few ovulation tracking methods. Basal body tempature, means take your temp BEFORE you get out of bed everyday. You will have a big jump or fall in temp the within 24 hrs of ovulation. Make sure to chart it to really see your cycle. I also do the saliva thing. I bought a kids microscope for $15 at walmart and it works just as great as some of those $50 ones. In the morning, collect saliva from under your tounge and make a dot on the slide. Let it dry, then view it. You will have spots before ovulation, as you near ovulation you will see a ferning pattern. Then for me, I see the most intense ferning the day I ovulate then I have ferning untill the day before my period. Good luck and let us know if all the advise works!!

If sex is that important to you, adopt a little girl. I have three wonderful sons and the youngest was a real blessing. You can try any method, but don't have a third baby if you will not be ecstatic about a third son.

We too used the Shettles book and just broke it down to when we had sex, stopped days BEFORE we knew i would ovulate. I can happily tell you i got myself not 1 little girl but 2! Twin girls were a welcome addition for us. I truly believe in the method of timeing as others have mentioned. 8 years later i am pregnant with an 'oops' and it just happened when it happened. I was positive it was a boy because based on when it happened it would have been right on the day of ovulation. Sure enough it is a boy confirmed by u/s. Good luck to you, girls are incredible :)

Hi, I didn't use it but there is also a medical procedure called "microsort". They sort the sperms and remove the less desirable sex and put, in you case the female, sperms only back in your body. It has about 90-95% accuracy for conceiving a girl. It is costly (a few thousand dollars), but something to think about. We talked to my ob about it, and was going to do it if I can't conceive quickly.

Okay, sounds weird, but both you and your husband should ask for a girl in your heads while you are being intimate. It worked for us, we both wished for a girl during the, uh hum, moment, and we got one! Doesn't hurt to try! Good luck!

I just gave birth in July to a beautiful baby girl! I have 2 boys age 12 and 6 and have always dreamed of having a daughter. I read the book "The Secret", and only kept thoughts of conceiving a girl in my head while we were trying to get pregnant. I know this sounds weird, but I truly believe that what you put out in the universe, you get back. Good luck!

Hi, I have 2 girls and two boys and the methods that were spelled out for you are pretty accurate. My husband and I were intimate about 2 to 3 days before ovulating for the girls and for the boys we did it the day before ovulating. So it does work. Knowing your ovulation cycle is so important. I actually have pain during ovulation so it helps me to know. Good luck.

PS One more thing, Girls are so much harder to deal with. They are full of drama at any age. Enjoy your boys!!
