Mesh Feeders

I just bought one of those mesh feeders for my 6 month old. Any suggestions as to what to put in them? She's taken very well to baby food (both veggies and fruit). I know these are safe, I'm just still a little wary of giving her solid foods with it! Any moms out there that use these? What do you think of them?

What can I do next?

Apples. Plums, honeydew, and pears are great too. Use a bib, leave her in just a diaper, and set her on a blanket that you can throw in the washer when she's done. The fruit juice is sticky and will drip everywhere. :)

I have 3 kids and we used the mesh feeders with all 3 of them. It was great way for them to learn self feeding. First foods we tried was bananas. It can get messy so be forewarned. I know a friend that even did cooked potatoes. Hope it goes well.

I loved the mesh feeders...bananas are messy to try to clean out of it...just an FYI. I used frozen fruit, especially for teething. If I did not want her to have more fruit I would just put in an ice cube for her.

I've found that putting ice in it when my daughter is teething is so helpful! Ice seems to be her favorite thing to suck on. I waited until after she turned one to do frozen strawberries to prevent allergies. I've tried pretty much all fruits and veggies, but tried to avoid ones that would get too mushy, like bananas and kiwi. I just love the mesh feeders and plan to use it with all our kiddos! Good luck!

Ice, fruits (that don't stain) are great (cantalope, grapes, etc.). Also freezing the fruits are good teethers in the mesh.

My daughter didn't really like the mesh feeder for some reason, we tried a couple of fruits and she never really caught on. I would definately NOT recommend banana's very messy, and difficult to clean

My daughter is almost 4 1/2 now, so it's been a while, but I think i used to put bananas or cantalope in it.

I did a search on Amazon.com and under the reviews they have some good advice. My kids were too old to have these, but they look cool!
