Menopause - Pompano Beach,FL

I am currently going through Menopause. I've had every symptom immaginable, and some pretty scary ones too. I am doing this the natural way as I don't believe that Hormone Replacement Therapy is safe. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Thank you all for your responses. As an older Mom, I find that it's important to share our experiences in aging. I will check into the accupuncture route. I have a chiropractor who does that right in his office. I am also taking natural things like Black Cohosh and Rosemary with Primrose. They seem to be helping. I appreciate all of your suggestions, and all of the support. Many thanks!

Have you tried acupuncture? I'm 47 and showing no real signs so I haven't needed it yet, but when /if I start having symptoms, I know that's where I'm going first. I have a great woman I can recommend in Boynton Beach if you're interested, just email me. And also, if you don't have Wisdom of Menopause book by Dr Christiane Northrup, I'd pick up a copy (and/or visit her website). Hope this helps. **A. V

you may want to change some of your daily routines, i.e., showering/bathing. Try to do this in the evening, as your body temp will have the opportunity to cool down....
and HRT happens to be the way to go, for maybe 2 years....new medical evidence. (I was on it for about 14 years, when the news hit....and because I forgot my pills while traveling, the doctor said, just go without.....) back to you. there are some natural things like black cohash, something or other, and night of primrose....good luck, but the bathing thing was a god send to me. A book called a new leaf is a great read.

Hi M.,
You might try acupuncture and herbal medicine. Dr. Johanna Perez at Amazing Births & The Red Tent Wellness Center in Boca is wonderful. The number there is ###-###-####.

I would suggest that you maintain a relationship with your primary care doctor so that you don't mistakenly ignore symptoms of something preventable for a symptom of menopause. I had taken HRT at first around age 45 but when the news came out of the harm they might cause, I stopped with my doctors agreement. I have had hot sweats at night for a long time and some heightened impatience. I have begun Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors in a low dose and find they help me feel calmer and more able to cope. My doctor suggested Tylenol PM if I can't sleep and I rarely need that. I exercise regularly and try to follow a diet suitable for diabetics which is mainly avoiding white simple carbs in favor of complex carbs like whole grains, fresh fruit and lots of fiber in veggies. I also think it's important to put limits on how much you agree to do for others during this time and allow yourself more me time just to stay on an even keel. You earned it by now. I try to avoid emotional trauma like kids problems, sibling problems and ugly stuff. Keeping your head about you will make it easier for everyone.

Hi M.,

Menopause is NO FUN. I have been through it. I highly recommend a doctor in Delray Beach, Dr. Nancy DeJesus, who is a bioidentical hormone specialist. The traditional HRT is not advisable. Customized bioidentical hormones programs offer healthier solutions. I have been taking them for years under Dr. DeJesus' tutilage. She is thorough in her blood tests and exams. She understands nutrition and its role in assisting your body as it deals with hormonal change.

Hi M.,
I believe that natural is the way to go, too. I've been thru menopause. I guess I breezed thru it, because I didn't have all the symptoms I've heard about.

I posted menopause info on my blog: www.HealthShak.com . Scroll down to April 5th. You may find some answers there.

I wish you health and happiness.
