Medical Billing for SAHM

Please check carefully into whether there is a market in your area for medical billing before you pay money to learn to do this work. Many online schools still offer classes, but medical billing is a field that is almost completely computerized now. Be careful that you don't get a degree in something you can't use.

I just interviewed someone who went to school for this and now can't find a job. Just like many college students that are graduating and can't find jobs in their fields. Look into jobs before you spend the money on schooling.

I can tell you that with the HIPAA laws you will not find a billing job at home. With the latest rounds of changes even our off site billers and coders were told work here or find a new job.

I do not work with patient data so my job can be done from home but I only do that if I cannot come into the office.

Just asked our billers and coders, they all said no way!

I do it at a friend's office from her home and in two offices, didn't go to school, learned on the job. Not the job for everyone though! A lot of people do the school, can't find jobs, and it really is not right for just anyone. Very detailed, multi-tasking, brain work. I love it!
