Maternity Winter Coats
Hi all,
I feel sort of silly asking this question, but does anyone know if there are winter coats made specifically for pregnant women?
My first child was born in June, so I had no real need for a larger winter coat, but this next one is due in February, so I have a feeling that come December and January I'm going to have an enormous belly and need something appropriate.
If you know of any clothing retailers or online sites that sell maternity winter coats, I'd appreciate the information. Or, if you had a baby in the winter and had another solution besides buying another expensive item of clothing that's only wearable for a few months, please tell me about what you did - I'd love some ideas.
Thanks!
C.

Hi C.,
My son was born in January, so I was in your position! Rather than pay for an expensive winter maternity coat that I would only wear for a short time, I found a wonderful fleece full-length wrap at Kohl's that worked perfectly. It was big enough to wrap completely around my pregnant belly, and warm enough to keep me cozy as I walked outside. Plus it didn't cost me an arm and a leg - I think it was $30 when I bought it two years ago.

They definitely make maternity winter coats. You could check out Mimi Maternity, Motherhood Maternity, Gap Maternity, or A Pea in the Pod. I don't know how much you'd need a very heavy coat though because I remember being really really hot all the time as I got bigger. I've seen many women just wear their regular winter coats unbuttoned. You'll probably be warm enough.

Hi C.:
My daughter in law wore a warm poncho as I recall. It kept her warm and covered. Her babies were born in November and December.
I hope this assist you.
Blessings,

Possibly worth the ride to Six Flags outlets--they have a nice Motherhood Maternity outlet there. You might want to call first to see if they have them in yet.
There are also some consignment sales coming up in the area--plug in Maternity on craigslist.org for info.
Why not just ask around to friends, family, and coworkers to see if someone has one, most likely it would be gently used. I know it is the type of thing I would love to pass on to someone else to get good use of if I had one sitting in the closet!
