Maternity Photos

Hi J.,

There is a great photographer at our church that has done our family photos and those of several of our friends. One of them used him for maternity photos and they were beautiful! We found him to be really reasonable. Typically, he has his wife with him to assist, and in addition to doing really nice work, they are just a nice couple to be around! I had maternity photos done with Kimi Carrier. She also took pictures at the waterbirth of my first daughter that turned out amazing! I just had my photos done with Carmen Wilson out of Brandon. This is baby #4 and the last time being pregnant. Out of all the people or places i have used in the past, her pictures are absolutely beautiful! She is worth every penny. She really captured the essence of pregnancy and not just point and click.

I am actually writing an article about pregnancy portraits and using my experience with her for BaMM Magazine (Baby and Maternity Market Magazine). Her website is www.CarmenWilson.com.

Good luck, but just remember you only get only chance at your pictures as you can not recreate the belly once it is gone.

I HIGHLY recommend Courtney Vickers - check out her wesbite at: http://www.courtneyvickersphotography.com/ - I did her "miracle session" where she does maternity shots & then returns when the baby is first born and we were so impressed with all the photos. She is pregnant with her 2nd child right now, so she's only taking limited appointments, but definitely check it out. Also, it can seem a bit pricey (I think her prices are listed on her website - you pay for the session, then pay for photos you'd like to order) but it is well worth it. Hope that helps, good luck!

My coworker is a photographer on the side and does beautiful work. I believe her rates are very reasonable. It's nice to have a personable touch and not feel rushed. Her name is Michele and she will go wherever you want for just $35. She'll give you a proof book with 30 to 50 options and then you decide what pictures you want. Again, her prices for the pictures are much more reasonable than Sadies but will be just a little bit more than like a JC Pennys. I think it's worth it because of how much more relaxing it is - not being rushed. I don't want to post her number; although I don't think she would mind. Hey there J.. I am a photographer and I shoot out of my house up in New Tampa. I charge $50 for the session and post the images online for you to view and print if you like or I have professional printers I use if you would like to order through me. Try calling the photography departments at USF and UT. I have used their students that are building their portfolios for weddings. They usually only charge for developing them, but request to use them in their portfolios. The department head will know of the students that are advanced in their degrees and that are putting together their portfolios and can put you in touch. Sometimes the professors will do them as well to continue their portfolios. Good Luck!

I just saw beautiful photos of my friend (taken by Picture People -- though I have never been there myself). She said it was reasonable. Also -- just FYI -- she and her hubby were wearing Black top and they had a black background which looked great (she had other backgrounds too and she had thought black was a bad idea ..) but it looked beautiful.

I think she does fabulous work and she loves new moms because she is also a new mom. She works within your comfort zone and the end result is nothing less that great. I am not sure about her prices but you could see her style then find out if her prices are within your range. I know that she can do photos at your house or out and about.

I have a girlfriend who owns a photography business and is very reasonable pricewise. She will travel to you, or you can go to her-she is in Dunedin/Palm Harbor. Her website is www.artisticeyephotos.com, where you can find some examples of her work, pricing info, etc... LMK if you have any questions. I have had 2 sessions with her so far and have been extremely pleased with her work. She takes all of the time that you need, and tons of pics. Plus, she does not make you choose right away. She will post the pics on her website for you under a private password and you can choose at your leisure.

I know you said that you are not interested in any place at the mall, but, I had mine done at Studio One to One in Westshore Plaza and they came out fantastic. I also had my son's newborn and 3 month photos done there. They are very good and affordable. I looked at a bunch of other studios and professionals and their costs were ridiculous and the wait was too long for an appointment (avg. wait was about 2 months).
