Unfortuneately I had a miscarriage last week, my second pregnancy, and of course it was heartbreaking, but we are looking forward to trying again in a few months. That being said my new employer doesn't offer paid maternity leave, so I am looking into getting a supplemental short term disability play such as Aflac.(I understand there is a 10 month stipulation from the time the coverage starts to when you can get covered)
So my question is, have any of you out there done this? Did you like it? approx how much did you pay per month? What company did you use? Any advice would be great! Thanks!
We were able to get two policies to cover maternity leave. The first was from Conseco, which pays for each day of hospitalization. The next was from John Alden which covered 60% of salary. I believe our cost for these was about $100 a month. We utilized eSupplemental.com to get information and select the policies.

Aflack's insurance doesn't cover for maternity but if you check with some other insurers. You can find some that will but you can't have a pre-existing condition meaning you can't be pregnant for X amount of time prior to the coverage (that X varies from company to company).

I had accident insurance with Aflac and I really liked it. The terms were laid out in understandable wording, the customer service was good. Also, it was cheap. I ended up never making a claim on it so I'm afraid I don't have any feedback as to that. But I was happy with it.
I am considering the exact same thing, as I am looking to have a baby in the next year or so, and don't have paid maternity leave either.
I asked a similar question a week or so ago, and only got a couple responses. Hope you get some good info. I'll be reading your responses.

My husband has sold Aflac for over 10 years and is currently in the top 5 agents in AZ. Although you are in UT, he can still help you. Aflac does have coverage for you, it pays YOU, not the doctor or hospital, which is what I think Kimberly is thinking in saying it doesn't pay for "maternity".
