Maternity Clothes - Evanston,IL

Try craigslist, or eBay. I got most of my clothes that way, but for a fraction of the price. Sometimes resale shops have a special maternity section, too!

I had luck at Target and Old Navy. There was also a maternity store in Gurnee Mills (sorry, I can't remember the name) but I purchased two pairs of shorts that I absolutely lived in all summer. Most of my maternity clothes were regular clothes that had a fabric or cut which worked for maternity wear. In fact Gillian O'Malley sleepwear at Target had yoga-style cropped pants with a big wide stretchy waist that I still wear today. What I didn't realize is that you need longer shirts to cover the growing belly. Think creatively!

This time around, I found success buying regular clothes one size up from my normal size. There are a lot of stores that are carrying tops that are cut longer, more tunic style, so it gives your belly some expanding room. Look for these styles...saves you money!

Congratulations. I found some great deals at Kohls. They have a pretty good maternity section. Everything I bought was on sale or clearance - some pants and shorts were as low as $3-7

Ebay! You can even find some "lots" where they group several items together and save you even more. I got a great maternity coat for $20 there.

Definitley hit the clearance sections at Old Navy. (Not all stores carry maternity, so check their website for locations.) You can get brand new maternity clothes for really cheap. I am tall, so did most of my maternity clothes shopping at oldnavy.com. They have online-only styles and sales with an online clearance section. If you are of normal height, then try Target and JC Penney. They usually have good sale/clearance sections, too.

However, if you are looking for gently used clothing, then I second craigslist and ebay. Lots of sellers of maternity clothes on those sites.

Also, if you want to get more use out of your current pants, then you may want to try a belly band. This will let you wear your pre-pregnancy pants well into your pregnancy. They sell them at Target, but they also sell cheaper 'knock-offs' on ebay in an array of colors.

Try E-bay. When I was done having my children, I sold all of my maternity clothes on E-bay and they sold pretty quickly. A lot of other moms do the same, so you can find some gently worn items at really good prices.

There is a maternity consignment shop on Armitage (near Armitage and Halsted). I can't remember the name but you can google it. I've been thinking about opening a second hand maternity store. If anyone reads this and thinks its a good idea, please send me a note. I am in the Park Ridge area and would open it somewhere around here.

Clothes mentor carries re-sale maternity. Also, I highly suggest getting a bella band. I was able to wear my regular jeans, unbuttoned, for this whole pregnancy.

There is a consignment store on Devon called My Sister's Closet. I can't remember the name of the neighborhood but I think it's OakPark? Or Edgebrook. Anyway, from Evanston you could just take McCormick to Devon, head west for a few miles, and just before you hit the train tracks (passing through the little neighborhood downtown area) you'll find the store on the left.

I know it's not resale, but have you tried Old Navy? There stuff is about the cheapest as far as new clothing. Definitely try Craigslist.
