My sister-in-law just found out she is pregnant with number 3. Her other children are 12 and 9. So, she does not have any baby stuff or clothes to ware her self while pregnant. She was wandering if there is any place to go to buy maternity clothes second hand. You don't ware them that long so there should be some place like once apon a child that buys and sells maternity clothes. If anyone knows of such a place please let me know. She doesn't have a lot of money to be spending on clothes she will only ware less than 4 months.
Also, is it acceptable for me to have her a baby shower even though this is not her first baby. She has nothing. She is starting over. Will there be someone who is insulted to be invited?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Kids Closet in Plainfield has maternity clothes. It's across the street from Target and behind the BP gas station.

Once Upon a child sometimes has maternity clothes.
Also, there is a place on the Eastside called the Mom store, it is run by a church, they have clothes and other baby items.

If she lives in Indy see if she can refer herself to BIBS (better indy babies)###-###-#### it is a program for pregnant moms. They could direct her to all kinds of resources

And give her a "welcome to the world" shower, everyone loves babies and anyone you would invite would know her situation so why would they be insulted? It is more than appropriate to celebrate the a new life and new beginning.

Most of the used kids stores have used maternity clothes. Kids Corner and Kids Kloset carry them. Motherhood maternity and old navy normally have cheaper clearance items. Garage sales you can find some cheap. I've seen a lot of freecycle, and craigslist.. Hope this helps.

Oh, heavens, no. It's just fine to have another baby shower. It's typically done for just the first, but since hers are so far apart, there's no reason not to have one. Some people do have repeat showers, but a nice twist on that is to bring prepared frozen meals for the mama to have ready for when she and the little one come home from the hospital.

As for maternity clothes... Does she belong to a church? Many times, there are women more than willing to share what they have on hand. I know because I had several people give me clothes when I was pregnant with my son. Also, there is a group called Freecycle. It's an online community that helps people recycle unused/unwanted items. It's a completely free group and she might be able to find lots of thing there.

Hope that helps.

God bless,
A.

Oh, there might be some people who are offended...but that is there problem. Truly! If she is in a tight position, it's just where she is & help from loved ones to honor her family would be a blessing. Throw a shower! Make it a fun theme of surprises come when you least expect them AND after all of the baby items & maternity clothes are gone! :)

Once upon a Child, perhaps Goodwill... I'm not sure. I was blessed to have a cousin & sister-in-law with similar physique that shared EVERYTHING in maternity clothes. We got great use out of the clothing.

Clearance & sale racks at Macys or Motherhood. Motherhood clothes weren't necessarily that expensive...Target has a maternity line. If she gets clothes, get things that are versatile. Just a couple of pairs or shorts & capris...one skirt...and 4 tops that are inter-changeable. I know, that can cost a ton. But back in the day (11 yrs ago), that was my only way when I did need to buy something if I outgrew someone else's items! :)

Good luck!

You might suggest the kids' consignment stores: Once Upon a Child and a few others around here also sell maternity things.

As for the shower, what a nice idea! There MAY be someone insulted, but they don't have to join in. It'll probably be a HUGE help to your SIL, so go for it! :)

Sometimes Target sends their maternity clothes to Goodwill. You might want to check there. Also, I just had a new baby and siblings are 6, 9, 11 years old. My friends had a shower for me and I loved it! I think it would be really nice to have a shower for her.

It's fine to have a shower for her. In fact, my friends had one for me for the all of my kids. Of course, the first and our next was almost 4yrs later and then twins 3yrs later. We did have a few people that said they hadn't heard of having a shower past the first baby. But most of them still came and had a great time. One thing we did was wait until our son and the twins were here. That way people would get to see the babies. Every child should be celebrated not just the firstborn.

God Bless
