Malunggay for Breast Milk Production
Does anyone know if Malunggay works to help breast milk production? I have tried Fenugreek Marshmellow and Fenugreek/Milo Thistle. So far I'm not seeing much and losing production. I read online this is to help breast milk production. I am supposed to get this tomorrow but is there anything I can do within the next few days? I have drank more but it doesn't seem to be helping.
Thanks.

I've never heard of it, but I know when I was breastfeeding my midwife suggested increasing demand in order to increase supply and discouraged me from using any supplements. This site has lots of helpful information http://www.kellymom.com/bf/supply/

Are you taking enough Fenugreek? It takes WAY more than the bottle says-- usually around 3 pills 3 times a day, you'll know the dose is right when you start to smell like a "Lovely" mixture of maple syrup and gym socks.
You can try lactation cookies too

I advise nursing your baby, and/or pumping.
Production comes from output and demand.

I consider myself a knowledgeable lactation advocate... and I've never heard of that. Doesn't mean it may not work tho.
My thoughts are:
WHY do you feel your production is low? Pumping is a very misleading gauge of your current supply, and babies will cluster feed often due to growth spurts and illness. Those are the two main reasons Moms mistakenly think they have a low supply when in truth they do not.
As for enriching the supply... feed on demand and often. Then pump in between feedings if you are able, keep hydrated and fed, try eating more oatmeal, relax and get some sleep. Medication/supplement wise, I ALWAYS say Fenugreek (enough to make you smell like maple syrup) and Blessed Thistle in combination.

I've used domperidone (motilium) very successfully. Within a few days of taking it, I could get the engorged feeling and have more than enough milk and then some. It's talked about on www.kellymom.com . But you have to order it over seas.

One beer a night (if you aren't opposed to alcohol) after baby goes to bed. The darker the beer the better. My LC recommended it and boy did it work:) Good Luck!
