Makeup Stain on White Carpet

I spilled a whole bottle of foundation (makeup)on the white carpet in my bathroom. I tried to use spotshot (the best stuff I know of) on it, but it hardly made it any less visible. Does anyone know of something better I can use or another trick that will help it come out? Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Hello J.,

This may sound like a crazy suggestion - but, it has worked for me. Try gasoline on the stain. We once had a paint stain on beige carpet and gasoline got it right out.

Good Luck!

I know this is a later response but makeup always drips in places when you least expect it. I am addicted to all sorts of makeup & products. Everytime I get some sort of make up on a rug, article of clothing, or towels I usually wipe off as much with a dry papertowel. To truly remove the stains I use makeup remover, what I usually use on my face. This only works with non-oil make up removers, if they are oil based it makes the problem worse. This always works for me when I spill or break a quadro of eyeshadow on a carpet or rug, for clothes after I use the makeup remover and get as much out as possible I'll just through it in the wash and it'll be gone...

Hi There is Blue-Magic you will only find it in the automotive section not with the other stain removers, It is great stuff and works on almost anything.

I have white carpet also and the best thing I've come across for cleaning out stains actually comes from the Dollar Store. Its called "LA's Totally Awesome all purpose concentrated cleaner" it a yellow liquid in a clear bottle with red writing. I've tried every product imaginable and its by far the best stain fighting product ever made! While I haven't tried it on foundation I have tried it on grease, cat urine, chocolate milk, black coffee, etc... and everything has come out. The bottle tells you to add water to the solution but don't just use it straight from the bottle. Hope this help!

my sister is a cleaning fanatic, she shampoos her carpets about every 3 months. would do it more if she could. she swears by a bottle of vinegar and water (50/50 i think) to get out stains. i didnt believe it but then i saw it actually used on a tough stain in my carpet that id been trying to get out with no luck and it came right out. all you need is a spray bottle, vinegar, and water.

Hello,

Try Grease lightning. It is used more as a cleaning product, but it says on the bottle you can use it for stains on clothing and carpet. I have been using it for years now on all my kids stained clothing and spills on the furniture and carpet and it is awesome works great. In fact I don't think that I have found anything it hasn't worked for. I dampen the area with water and then spray it on,I also use a little brush to rub it in and lift the stain. You can find it at walmart. Hope this helps.

I didn't know what to use on it so I asked my mother, the queen of clean, and she told me to tell you to buy this stuff called Resolve Spot Magic. It comes in an aerosol can. She said this stuff works really well to remove tough stains without tough scrubbing. She said that she had tried spotshot and that doesn't work well.If you do what it says on the can my mom is confident that you can get the stain out with Resolve Spot Magic.

Hello - You might want to try oxyclean powder - I spilt a whole glass of red wine on my white carpet and it took it all out - I just put some water on the carpet and then the oxyclean and scrubed alittle and then vacume once it is dry enough. I have not tried it with make-up but I use it on all my clothes and childs clothing and it does take out alot of stuff. I love it!!

Sol-U-Mel from Melaleuca gets just about anything out of carpet. I've even used it on nail polish. You have to be a member to order it, but it's worth every penny. Sol-U-Mel is a cleaner with a base of Melaleuca (tea tree) oil, which is a natural solvent. You can look at the website at www.melaleuca.com

You could also try a handheld steam cleaner, but be careful because the heat sometimes melts the backing of the carpet.

WD-40 also gets out some stains from carpet. It works great on candle wax.

Whatever you use, make sure you can rinse it out because any cleaner left in the carpet will attract dirt.

I know a great product and it is also completely safe for kids and pets.
