Makeup Stain

How do I get foundation out of a pair of shorts? It is not oil based. I immediately rinsed out as much of the foundation as possible, then applied a stain spray. I have washed (not dried) several times with no luck. I've tried things I found on the internet like shaving cream, alcohol, oven cleaner, soaking in baking soda, detergent, and oxyclean. Still nothing! Please help!

What can I do next?

Thanks for your help on this. I was not successful with anything I tried, but thakns so much for your advice!

Dollar General carries a product called Awesome, and it is exactly that. It can be used on anything that is washable. It says to dilute it, but I use it straight from the bottle and it works great. The first time I used it was on my lil' one's onesie that had a set in stain & it completely removed it. It's $1 for a spray bottle or $3 for a gallon.

Hi H.! I have found a product sold at Dollar General stores. It is called M-90. It comes in a tub a little larger than a butter tub and it is only $1. I have had luck using it on make-up, lipstick, crayons that had already been melted into the clothing by the dryer, grease, grass, markers. You name it and it has worked. It is like a paste. I get a spoonful out and work it into the stain and then glop some more on the top not rubbed in. You can let it sit like that for up to 7 days before washing. Depending on how tough the stain seems to be, I will let it sit for 2-3 days before washing. Hope this helps if live near a dollar general store. Good luck!

Crown Spray Power works for all sorts of stains, you would never believe some of the things that I have gotten out of clothing and carpet. When we have a stain, my husband and I just laugh because we know it will be gone once we use the Spray Power! Google it as I no longer think it is sold at Wal-Mart!

i'm a big fan of the SPray and Wash Stain Stick. It got popcorn grease out of pants that had already been washed and dried several times and it's gotten out every stain I've ever had after that oil based or whatever.

Have you ever heard of SA8? It is a product you can only get from a Quixtar/Amway business owner. They have the BEST stain remover and laundry care (Rated #1 in consumer reports). You can go to www.pbarnard.qhealthbeauty.com and type in prewash. I like the liquid better than the spray, because it has enzymes in it to break down food as well. They also have Trizyme - a powder you can soak stuff in. When I was little, my mom would always soak her table clothes in after a holiday (Wine stains) and they are still spotless today! I usually give the prewash stain remover to new moms. They love it for baby clothes! It is awesome. Good Luck.

Have you tried Shout Advanced for set in stains...I have had it get out stains that were DRIED in the dryer!!!
They have two kinds (one that is a spray bottle and the other for oil based stains that is in an aerosol can) the bottles are blue.
I have had a lot of luck with them!

foundation is hard to get out..have you tried a drycleaners & point out the stain and see what they say?

Hey H.!
Here's what my Queen of Clean book says about getting cosmetics out of clothing:
"Bar soap such as Dove, Caress and other such beauty bars work well on cosmetic spots. Wet the stain and rub with the soap, working it in well. Flush with warm water and, once stain is removed, launder as usual.
Sometimes just working in laundry detergent will be all you need. For difficult cases, add some borax to the area and work well between your thumbs.
If your garment is dry clean only, try some Energine Cleaning Fluid directly on the spot. Make sure to use a cool blow dryer to keep a ring from forming on the fabric. You'll need to take the garment to a professional cleaner if the stain doesn't come out."
Hope you get it out! Stains are my arch-nemesis!!
