Madeline's FIRST Birthday Was a Huge Success!
Over the last several months I have asked for your advice on caterers, activities and a birthday signature plate for my daughter, Madeline's first birthday party.
So What Happened?™
Yesterday was Madeline's party, and everything went GREAT! The party was held at our clubhouse, with about 50 friends and family. The weather was perfect, so we were able to use the patio as well as the clubhouse. We went with Reuland's catering, the food was awesome! I planned bubbles, sidewalk chalk, hula hoops and coloring activities at the tables. And I found the perfect "Our Name is Mud" signature plate at a Hallmark in Downer's Grove. The day was busy, but fun! Madeline did great, she walked around the entire time, enjoyed all of the people and took a huge nap when we got home. Thanks for all your help! My husband and I are both pooped, but we wouldn't trade the day for anything!

There is a great place in Long Grove called Art Werks. My mom ordered a beautiful signature plate there for my wedding. It's my 1st stop for personalized wedding gifts. They might have a birthday plate already created you could buy. I know it takes a week or two if you wanted to have it personlized-but maybe you could even have it signed and then brought back to have it "personalized" later. Worth a call!
Good luck...Happy Birthday Madeline!

Hi L.,
the ones I found online were wicked expensive - my advice, go buy a plate that you like... either glass, or ceramic, plain, decorative, whatever you want - just make sure it is oven safe... go buy the ceramic marker that is typically packaged with the signature plate, you can fin it at Hobby Lobby for under 10 bucks - in the paint supplies area.
have people sign the plate, then follow the directions included in the pen pkg, for curing the marker/paint and it will become permanent and dishwasher safe.
our plate turned out great! i got a decorative one from hobby lobby, like a platter really - had a big cupcake on it. soooo cute :)
have fun - congrats on Madeline turning one!!
