So my 6 month old baby girl is constipated, she is bf only up until I started solids about 2-3 weeks ago. She has been going every couple days but its hard and only a little bit! Most the time it stays in between her bum (sorry tmi). It is painful for her to go. About a week or two ago I really started to notice she was getting constapated, so I started giving her prunes, stopped yellow/orange veggies, I have never given her cerial. I rub her tummy, giving her half apple juice half prune juice seriously giving her prunes every feeding and nothing is helping! Rub digest zen doterra oils on her tummy. I don't know what to do now. I feel like I've tried everything! Help! I tried stopping solids but only last a day w/o cause she will cry and not stop and that is the only thing that will calm her down. She loves her food! :-)

What can I do next?

Put about 1/2 tsp. Karo syrup in either a bottle or mix it into food. That will get her going.

Once you get her going keep up with the prunes, etc. very regularly. I have a little one in my care that I give prunes for breakfast every M-W-F.

It sounds like you are doing the right thing, this happens now and then. She will be okay.... and be prepared for her to fill her diaper soon ;)

Pear juice is what our pediatrition recommended. I would get those small Gerber juice bottles and give half of one diluted with equal parts water. If it was bad it could take a couple days but most of the time it was within a day. I keep pears and pear juice on hand. It came in very handy when I was pregnant and had issues ;) The whole family uses it when we need to.

Have you taken her to a doctor recently. The doctor might have something special to try to treat it. Otherwise what you're doing to try to help seem great.
Good luck.

Are you also giving her water? With her eating solids now that bind it's a must. And remember you're just introducing her to solids at this point so she learns how to eat them, they're not for nutrition, so she really shouldn't be eating much of them anyway.

Also, whether she's crawling or not give her plenty of exercise time on the floor. Put toys a few feet away from her all over the room so she has to work at getting to them and gets exercise that keeps her poop moving through her.
