Lump

I'm freaked out right now. I found a lump in my arm pit while I was in the shower a bit ago. When my older kids go to school I am calling the doctor for an appointment. The lump is the size of a marble, maybe slightly smaller. It wasn't there yesterday morning. I'm just completely freaked out about this. I didn't know a lump that large could show up over night. There is not a spot that looks like a bug bite or an ingrown hair. There's nothing but a lump. It's not even red. I'm really just needing somewhere to put this out there, but anyone who has felt a lump that turned out to be nothing...I'd really like to hear from you. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'm not due for my period for another couple of weeks. Yesterday I did sweat to the point that my deoderant wasn't working anymore, so there's some hope. I have an appt tomorrow afternoon. I'll update more after that if I get any info.

THANKS for all your support ladies!! Doctor said it's just a blocked sweat gland, and gave me Tetracycline for 10 days. Hopefully he's right, and it will work out. Thanks again!

Are you due to get your period soon? Many women will find a lump that will go away after they get thier periods, I dont know the whole explanation on it but my sister gets lumps almost every month before she gets her period them they go away after. It does have a name but I don't know what it is.

Relax. It may just be a swollen lymph node. If you get run down or an infection, these swell and can take a long time to go away....usually longer than it takes to develop another infection, fever, etc. It could be something simple. Before my first son, I had thought I found a weird (and large) lump in my breasts. Turns out I just have firbroid tissue. It has to be monitored so as to not mask anything else, but harmless (though a little painful). Don't panic but do go to your doctor soon and have it checked.Good Luck!

Hi Kathy,

Since your lump appeared overnight, I would think it's a swollen lymph node. Definitely stay on top of it and don't hesitate to get it checked if it's still there in a week or so.

I've have a similar lump under my arm for more than ten years. I was told it was a benign cyst and not to worry unless it grew, changed or became painful. Non of these has happened and it's still there.

Please try and relax. I had a lump and after a FNA procedure it turned out benign. My mother is stage 4 breast cancer - pre-menopause, so I am at high risk & I understand your concern.

Many times lumps are normal and it should be examined by a dr. But please, do not worry too much.

Hi Kathy,
I very often get underarm lumps usually, before my period and during the summer. I think they are clogged sweat glands. If you are that freaked, definitely do not hesitate to go to the doctor. Here's hoping that it is nothing but a clogged swaet gland.

Could be an infected sweat gland. My MIL gets those all the time.
