Low HCG and Low Progestrone

my hcg and progestrone levels are low i'm 6 weeks pregnant my doctor put me on Prometrium 200MG two tablets a day and he is going to do a blood test to check the hormones levels next week .I'm tooooo worry.i'm afraid about my baby's condition having abnormal baby before the treatment and even if the blood test showed improvment does it mean that the pregnancy is ok and i shouldn't be worry?

What can I do next?

Have you asked your physician these exact questions?

Well I can't remember exactly but I do remember them telling me my levels were not where they needed to be and I had bruises up and down my arm from all the numerous times they took my blood - finally they did a sonogram on me because they thought I had an ectopic pregnancy....come to find out it wasn't an ectopic pregnancy or anything wrong with the pregnancy at all-I was pregnant with twins.........later on I found out that at first your levels can be extremely low indicating miscarriage, ectpoic, etc. but it can also be an indicator of twins. Have they done a sonogram on you? I found out I was pregnant around 2 weeks and then I found out twins were in order at 4 weeks. What a shocker!

My progesterone was low for my entire pregnancy with my youngest. I don't mean kind of low, I mean very low. I had to supplement for the entire pregnancy. My husband gave me shots of it several times a week. My daughter is very much healthy and happy.

I wouldn't worry to much. I also had the same problem and my Dr. put me on the exact same medicine as you and same strength. Sometime your body just doesn't make enough of the hormones you need to support the pregnancy. I have 2 kids now 3yr and 10 months. With both pregnancys I took the Prometrium and both kids were born healthy. I only had to take the medicine for a few months. Eventualy your body will understand what is going on and kick in the extra hormones. They are totally safe, so relax and take it easy.

Low HCG can indicate issues like and ectopic which someone mentioned, but can also just vary greatly person to person and is more an issue of it the numbers go up (they should double about every other day). After a couple blood tests to determine if your HCG levels are going up, if they are still concerned your doc should do an ultrasound.

Low progesterone is actually a bigger deal, but you caught it really early, and your doc seems to be on the ball in treating the issue. The next step if your current medication doesn't work would be injections.

I've had two miscarriages in the past year (and am thankfully 36 weeks pregnant) and while low progesterone can cause a loss, it's easy to treat and doesn't indicate that anything is or would actually be wrong with the baby.

good luck.
