Lotion for My Baby's Face

Hi moms! My baby has gotten a little "windburned" from our afternoon walks. Even though I have her bundled up, her cheeks have a funny look to them. Her skin looks dry but feels soft. Do you put lotion on your baby's face? If so, what kind. I don't want her to break out. My daughter is almost 9 months old but still gets a little acne. I'm hoping you moms have a suggestion. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Awesome moms! Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I am going to give several of the products a try to see which works best. Thanks again!

Whichever lotion you try, use one with no parabens in it. Parabens mimic estrogen and they are absorbed by the body.

I use raw virgin coconut oil.

Aquahphor is good for many things (it's great because it contains a plant-based anti-inflam)but if you don't want to put a petroleum based product on baby's face, Alba Botanicals makes a great product called "UN-petroleum jelly". I've since replaced Aquaphor for this. Find it in health food stores. I use it to prevent wind chap and on baby's bum overnight to prevent diaper rash.

I use Hydrocortizone cream on my baby's face. She is 14 months but gets Eczema so it helps to get rid of the red, dry and chapped skin. My Pediatrician recommended this for me. I Love Aquaphor myself for my lips but don't like my baby all greasy.

My baby gets wind rash and allergy rash and sun burns really easily on the apples of his cheeks-- they are often bright red. I use either locally-made plantain and goldenseal salves or Badger sunscreen. Badger sunscreen is so pure you can eat it and I use it as a salve, not just a sunscreen, because it works. Put in on and the skin will heal in no time.

Elephant Pharmacy sells a wonderful line of Skin Care products for babies: Earth's Best Baby Care by Jason. Also, doctors recommend using plain petroleum jelly (Vaseline) with no fragrance on babies with severe dry skin like eczema.

I would try jojoba oil- it does not clog pores and is a really light oil. You could also put it on before you go out on your walks.

When my daughter was little, she had some eczema on her face and the doctor had me use Aquaphor which worked really well. You can purchase it at local drug stores, and I found it at Target.

J.,
I recommend Arbonne's Baby Care face/body lotion and/or body oil. Arbonne's products are free of petroleum, mineral oil, animal products, and many other things that aren't good for us. Plus Arbonne's products are pH correct for the skin so your little girl's protective barrier will not be destroyed. You can get Arbonne only through Independent Consultants. Go to www.arbonne.com to locate one close to you. Have a great day! C.
