This is a subject hitting me hard. After lossing the baby I CANNOT loose the weight. Which in turn makes my mental recovery hard because everytime I look down I see him :( . Anyways I have changed my diet to a much healthier diet with a good portion of protien and less carbs. I have also cut down on how much I eat. I walk to work as much as I can but sometimes the snow prohibits it. I am a clutz (sp?). Does anyone know of a good way to loose weight... good workouts... recipes... ANYTHING!

TIA

What can I do next?

Walking is best. It won't be too much longer until Spring. Perhaps you could go to the local YMCA and hop on the elliptical or treadmill?

ETA:

I'm sorry for the oversight of my original answer. So very insensitive of me. I'm very sorry for your loss and pray you find peace. Getting some exercise won't make that pain go away, but it sure does help with the depression.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Our emotions play a much bigger part than many of us realize in weight loss and weight gain. If you're not sleeping well or experiencing depression, your body may be "holding onto" fat -and lack of sleep can REALLY be detrimental to weight loss, plus it makes you crave sugar.

I would suggest (if you haven't already) maybe speaking with a counselor to work through your grief process. It may be a good thing for you to take an antidepressant for a few months -that can often also help you lose weight.

It's likely you may not even realize the portions you're eating or what all you're eating, but adding protein and cutting carbs is a very good place to start. Really fill up on fruits and vegetables. REALLY limit grains and try to get away from potatoes completely. White flours and processed foods will make your stomach pooch. Get used to reading all the nutritional labels on food and take notice of the sugar in things. It can be surprising! Eat from the outer edges of your grocery store instead of the aisles where all the processed stuff is.

Google "Lean, healthy recipes" and consider joining Weight Watchers. It's not fast, but it can change your entire approach to food -which you need to do to keep the weight off. It also offers support.

If I lived in a snowy climate, I would snowshoe and cross country ski all the time! Both are incredibly good exercises. Any chance you can start that?

As long as you eat right, your weight will go down naturally. Remember, you had 9 months to put it on. It will take at least that long to get it off.

And don't worry about weight alone. When we carry a child (either internally or externally) we are weight training. Our bones get denser, our muscles get stronger, and they will simply weigh more no matter what we do. And that's healthy!

For diet- eat FOOD. Just shop at the perimeter of the grocery store. Don't buy/eat processed anything. (Most stuff in the middle of the store contains ingredients that aren't food. So don't eat that.) Drink water, tea, coffee. No pop. NO diet pop--it just keeps you craving more sweet stuff.

Glad you're walking to work! That is a luxury in this day and age! It'll come off if you live like god intended us to live :)

I agree, the elliptical machine is amazing. I lost a lot of weight using it, and it's low impact which made it easier too.
Along with that, drinking lots of water, and eating breakfast every day has really helped too.

So sorry about your loss :( Hugs to you!

Oh I am so so very sorry!! Hugs. This may sound redundant or easier said than done but eat less and move more. Also, for your overall well being connect with others while being active. Best wishes:)

My condolences on the loss of your baby. :(

If/When the weather is an issue try the mall. Our malls here allow people inside well before the mall is open to walk.

Tia-
Oh my Tia. Your post cuts at my heart. I can't imagine your loss. Hugs

check out Rachel's message post from Friday. She summed it up so well and I know I also put on some tips (I'm a wellness coach part time).
No matter what- don't give up.
I lost all of mine after twins in my 40's and a good share of my multiple mom's group attendees 'gave up' and told me to also.
I didn't and you'll get there too.
Check out all the great messages and if you want a profile, email me too.
