Losing That Last 10 Pounds!!

Hello mommies! I had a son a year ago and I was always in very good shape before and during the pregnancy. I am back to being in good shape. I lost most of the baby weight but I cannot seem to lose that last 7-10 pounds. I do aerobics in my house when my baby sleeps 4 times a week for about 45 min and that is how I lost most of the baby weight. My belly area is the problem...the skin stretched and just to give you a visual...when I am exercising and doing push ups, I look down at my sagging belly and it is ugly. The skin has stretched so much. But when I am standing, it just looks like I have a layer around my belly, the skin does not sag standing. I did not have that before and I want to know how to get rid of it. How do I get my stomach back? How do I lose that last 5 to 10 pounds? Do I have to take on Pilate or a boot camp class? Or is it with diet that I will achieve it? I don't know. I love my toasts in the morning, my cheese, my glass of wine with dinner. But I don't eat big portions at all. Do I have to juice for a while??? I will do anything. Can you tell me what worked for you? thank you!
N.

What can I do next?

N.,

Congrats on being a mom!!! I see moms ALL the time who are trying to loose the last little bit. I worked on a mom today who is working on her 3rd triathalon and she was also having problems with her abdominal area.

Many times it is because there is so much of a change in the balance in the muscles and it is hard to get them back unless you are in alignment first and are correctly recruiting your transversus abdominus muscle.

Give me a call and we may be able to problem solve over the phone!

The moms I have worked with have AMAZING results that happen quickly.

Lift weights 2x a week (muscle burns fat). Also, just make sure you are eating the right amount of calories. All the working out in the world won't make a difference if you are eating too many. (I know you said your portions are down, but count your calories for a week or two). The last 10lbs is the hardest, so be patient.

Best wishes,
M.

Hi N.,

I too have struggled with the last 10 pounds. My son is now three. I do believe diet and exercise are really important. Diet is also 90% of how your body looks. All the ladies gave you great advice. I also think it's important to appreciate all your body does for you. This changes your perspective.

I have found a great hand held device that will tighten your skin, gets rid of cellulite and streach marks, and irons out wrinkles. This device can be used head to toe. It is such an amazing invention! I have been using it to tighten the skin on my belly and it works! I am a facialist here in Redondo Beach. I would be happy to give you a demonstration. It is affodable and only takes 5-10 min a day to see results. Feel free to e-mail or call me if you are interested. ###-###-#### ____@____.com

Hey N.! Same boat. My son just turned one and I have about 8 more lbs. to go. I FINALLY (after two solid months of working out and eating about 1400 calories a day) have seen the scale budge. The hardest time I have ever had taking off weight. The one thing I would say is consistency with diet and exercise is key. It isn't just alot of working out or alot of eating right, I feel its both. I don't think you have to starve yourself but what's worked for me is eating small meals about every 2-3 hours, totally 1400 cals. And then a combo cardio light weight training workout, I try for 5 days a week but reality is more like 3-4. That has gotten me to about 1 lb a week weight loss. Good luck and keep at it, it will go away!!!!

It's hard to believe, but I was working out 5-6 times a week and I wasn't losing the last 5-8 lbs either. I scaled back to 3-4 times a week but longer workouts, wasn't as hungry so ate less, and POOF, they disappeared! It was so weird!
My advice is:
1. To play with the amount of time you work out b/c for some women burning fat happens w/ longer workouts but less (like me.
2. Scale back on eating. I found eating a salad for lunch everyday fills me up, and helped me lose the extra weight.
3. Vary your workouts. If you run, don't just stay in your target fat burning heart rate range (130-150 bpm). One day go steady at that rate, the next time do interval training.
4. Find a workout buddy. If you play tennis, get moving. It doesn't feel like you're working out cuz you're having fun!

I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight minus a couple pounds and it really works!Good luck!

i have been in the same boat for about the last 6 months. i started working out at home, lifting weights, tai-boe ...nothing moves the last 10 pounds. and i am starting to wonder if i should just accept it.
my belly has a pooch, my inner-thighs just don't know that i no longer need them...it's almost like my body is storing up what it can - just in case i'll start starving it.
my advice is keep exercising, keep eating right, don't obssess about the foods you eat (everything in moderation), don't go on juice diets (your body will loose weight but then re-gain more).
Also - start exercising your mind so to speak. Try to appreciate your body for everything it has provided for you in terms of health, baby, and being a shelter to your soul. See if that has a greater meaning then some loose skin.
Also, you are your worst judge. you see things and flaws that most will not. Make sure that you don't obssess aobut this too much around your husband either - cuz that gets old and unattractive. And as your boy gets older - you would want to make sure that he doesn't value a woman only on her apperance.
Good luck and congrats on such a beautiful family.
