Losing Hair?

I need to know if anyone else has gone through this. I have three beautiful girls and I noticed about three months after I give birth (when hormone levels start to get balanced) my hair starts to fall out in chunks. Right now my hair is thining especially in the front and it is very noticeable when I put my hair up. Does any have any suggestions or remedies to either get my hair to grow back or to make it stop falling out. I am desperate.

What can I do next?

This happened to me too, but it stopped after 6 months after giving birth. Nothing you can do about it in the mean time. I asked my obgyn.

Hi I.,

I feel your pain! I have a six month old and went through the same thing. It seemed like the second she turned 3 months old my hair started falling out. I had a bald spot on either side of my hairline. I have dark brown hair so it was very noticable when I wore it up. It has been three long months but the spots are finally starting to fill in. I have a three year old and the same thing happened when I had him. I don't have any helpful hints for you. I just wanted to let you know you weren't alone. It's very scary when you see the amount of hair that comes out but thankfully it doesn't last forever.

Good luck!

This happened to me also. My 2 boys are 18 months apart and I don't know if I just didn't notice the hair loss after my 1st, but after my second it really bothered me and you could really notice the hair loss in the front. Take vitamins and eat a balanced diet. If it continues to fall out in chunks, you should see a dermitologist. They know about scalp conditions and can diagnose if anything is wrong. My youngest is about 5 years old now and my hair is much better. Just keep up with a balanced diet and vitamins. If possible, keep using your prenatal vitamins. The help alot.

Vitamin B, I am still having hair fall out, and it's been two years. But I've noticed it probably now is the right amount. I was really weirded out by this, and so I checked with the doctor and went to GMC. Good luck! Jen

Rest assure losing hair after your pregnancy is not uncommon. You can also have your Thyroid levels checked (this can be a culprit). I had the same issues with my hair after having my son 1 yr ago and it was beyond frightening. Eventually my hair did stop falling out. I also used the highest level of "Biotin" which is good for the hair or you can use "Hair, Skin and Nails" vitamin.

Besides my comments the best advise I can give you is to see your doctor. I wish you the best!

Hi I.,

I feel your pain. I have gone through this predicament after the birth of both of my daughters. I tried alot of stuff but I think what finally worked for me is high potency biotin supplements and Organics Root Stimulator (it's made for african american hair and is usually found in beauty supply stores that specialize in black hair care). I hope this helps - good luck with your hair.

Hi I.,
I was blessed 6 months a go with my daughter Mia and I went thru the same situation with my hair. I was afraid of brushing on a daily basis.
My yoga teacher to better this situation introduced me to KOMBUCHA raw tea. It is a taste that you must acquire, they sale it at health foods stores, Whole Foods & Wild Oats. They come in different tastes-I highly recommend that you DO NOT buy the ginger one.
Hope this helps you as much as it has helped me.

With my first daughter I lost hair until she was about 18 months. This time with my son only until about 9 months. A friend of mine has a few bald spots from losing so much. Unfortunately I don't think there is anything they can do, check w/ your DR though. Good luck!
