Loose Tooth - Fort Worth,TX

My son, who is 6 1/2, finally has his first loose tooth! It's been loose now for about 2 wks and I don't think it's gotten much looser, definitely not ready to come out yet. I'm not concerned, I know it will come out eventually, but how long does it usually take for a loose tooth to come out?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

He woke up this morning with it super loose and wiggled it all day. I pulled it this afternoon! So for him, I guess it was about 3 weeks with a pretty loose tooth. Thanks- I had no idea it could take as long as months!

I am so glad you asked this. My son who is also 6 1/2 just got his first loose tooth today. It literally happened over night. He has been telling me he had one for about 2 months now, but every time I tried to wiggle it I couldn't tell. We checked it last night & it still wasn't loose enough for me to tell. SO, today he told me he had a loose tooth & I asked him to show me & it was VERY loose. I don't think he will have it by the end of the week the way it happened, but it does always take every child different time spans to loose teeth. I think it takes longer for the tooth to come back in than it does for it to fall out. Good Luck!!!

For different kids, it takes different amounts of time. My cousin's son noticed his tooth was loose and the next day he pulled it out. My daughter notices she has a loose tooth, and about 3 months later it is finally loose enough to pull out!

Every child is different. My child takes about 4-8 months for her tooth to come out once it is loose because she will refuse to wiggle it. It is pretty frusterating for me LOL. If he tends to wiggle and move it a lot then it should take up to a month or so to come out I would think. Lots of hard carrots or things that will help it along is always good. But it can hurt a bit to move it around or eat..........just depends on the kid I guess.

It depends upon how much he wiggles it. As a child, I was so eager for the money the tooth fairy would bring, I worked hard to get mine to the point my dad could pull it with his optical pliers.

It can take months... for a loose tooth to finally fall out.
Even more than 6 months.

Same thing with my oldest and it was loose for maybe a month before it finally was loose enough for him to pull. He is 10 now and has only lost 6 teeth. My middle son though is 7 and he has already lost 5! My pedi dentist says they will come out when the permanent tooth is ready to come up.

My son's teeth take forever to fall out! His stay loose for months before falling out.
