Looking to Turn Camcorder Tapes into Dvd's
I was looking for a place that turns Camcorder tapes into DVD's. I am looking around the Frankfort, New Lenox, Orland Park area. I was just wanting to know if anyone has had this done and how much it cost. Thanks for the help.

Last year, for Christmas, my husband and I worked on an extensive project turning 8 mm roles of old family films, organized and put them on DVD's, all with the help of a place right in New Lenox, IL. I had checked around, their prices were decent and Kevin was very helpful throughout the whole project. They can attach background music or you can add your own music, if some of your tapes don't have sound (since yours is newer - you probably have sound.)

They are right in the Cherry Hill strip mall, west of Gougar, off of Rt. 30.
Just an FYI... If you want to do it yourself, and know someone with a Mac or I-Mac, there are accessories that you can purchase to do this yourself. Just go to the Mac store in Orland Mall and talk to one of their Geniuses (no I'm not being sarcastic - that's what they call themselves. They are incredibly helpful.) It is very time consuming, though. We did not want to chance it, especially since many of the films were at least 50+ years old.
Good luck.

It's very easy to do it yourself. Most camcorders need a firewire port and cable to connect to the computer. Your camcorder should have come with the wire. I believe most newer computers come with a firewire port as well. Kind of looks like a house shape and is about the size of a USB port. This has transfer feeds fast enough for the video. If you have Vista Home Premium or better it comes with a DVD program, or you can but one for not too much. I just the ArcSoft DVD program and really like it. It came with a converter that I got at Aldi's that allows you to convert your non copyrighted VHS taps to DVD as via the USB. It takes time, but each one you'll get better and better at. I combine videos and slideshows of our pictures with music. Have fun!

Ritz Camera on Route 30 in New Lenox, front strip mall by Kohls. They are fast and cost is about $30. Look for coupons in Sunday paper. They can have it for you in a few days. Great gift idea!
