Hi, my name is E., I am 28 years old (soon to be 29 on March 24th) and I am a SAHM to twin girls who are 19 months old. I have been married to my husband for almost 5 years (April 6th) I realized that after I got married (I was the first one) a lot of my friends and I "grew apart" because we were living different lives. After that I went through a lot in my life and literally secluded myself instead of reaching out and making friends when I needed them the most! I realize now I need friends, friends that are mothers, that I can relate to and friends that I can go out on double dates and playdates with as well....I live in The Colony, so if you are in this area or nearby I would love to meet and talk...I really do need some "Mommy time!" Hope to meet some great friends! Feel free to ask me anything! :)

I feel like I'm in the same boat! I didn't exactly grow apart from my friends, though, My husband and I moved here a year ago from California and I became a SAHM and I haven't made friends here are easily as I thought I would!

It's funny, I remember I had more friends than I could handle in high school, I was always on the phone and I always had a bunch of friends over at the house. After HS, everyone went to college, some to different cities or states. I ended up moving. We kept in touch for the first few years and now, I haven't seen anyone I knew for over 6 years. I have become a bit anti-social, mostly because I didn't have the time for friends. I was working 2 full time jobs and going to school full time, and being a mom full time. I too went through a lot in my life during this time. For a while the only association I had was with my co-workers, but I didn't have enough in common with them to actually hang out or make buddies. It is also weird to me when I read some of the things on mammasource and people seem to have a lot of friends, perhaps soon you will be one of them! I live in Plano, I think that's a bit far, but I hope you make life long friends on here, Best of Luck E.!

Hi Erika my name is A. 23, I have completely done the same as you. I have been married for three years now and I have two beautiful little girls ages 2 AND 3. I have grown very distent from all of my friends as well. I am really the only one who's married with kids, so were really not doing the same things anymore. I've also just moved to north dallas and don't know anyone out here. I am a stay at home mom for now and it's great to be able to spend time with my babies, but like you I would really like to get out and meet people. If you would like I live about 15 min from the colony. Give me a call @ ###-###-#### and maybe our girls could play and just hangout.

I am not married but I have no friends either because all my friends are either single w/older kids or married w/no kids so they really don't know what it's like having younger kids and that I don't get out much. I really would like to set up a play date, I live in Carrollton which is about 15 min from the Colony if your interested.

Hi,
I'd like to invite you to our church, First Baptist, The Colony. Our church is approx. 95% young families with children. My best friends are at church! We see each other at church and attend each other's children's birthday parties, celebrate holidays together, etc. We have great Sunday School classes for people like you and your children. Starting at 3, your daughters can be in preschool choir and other activites. If you're interested in learning more, reply back. Hope to hear from you.

Hey there I totally understand cuz I am guilty of doing the same, I got with someone made some babies and friends just slowly disappeared. They either didn't have kids and partied all the time, or had kids but were too young or too old to play with mine, so us talking dimenished into nothing. Since I found this website, I've made new friends which I have met up with and even started a great biz. I live in Addison with my two monkeys Dree 5 and Gabe 3, and my fiance. Feel free to give me a shout if you want to chit-chat. ____@____.com And if you want to ask me ?'s just to get to know me and know that I'm not some crazy lady feel free to ask. Hope to talk to you soon and have a blessed day.

WOW-I thought I was the only one!! I went through the exact same thing as you E..
Now that I have kids, all the friends I did have are doing their own things. It doesn't help that they all live in other cities. I guess that's one of the biggest obstacles in trying to get together.
I always hear all these other mother's say that they go to girls night's out and it sounds like everyone has a ton of friends. I always wondered how they were able to build that group of friends and sustain all the relationships in such a busy world. I had a group of about 3-4 really close friends and they all live in other cities and have their own kids and own lives. So I rarely even hear from them anymore. And I miss them dearly :-< I really think it's better to have friends within the same city so it's easier to get together.

If there's anyone in Allen with toddlers I'd love to get together and try to build a network of friends!!

Hi E.,

I'm not sure what the websites would be, but there are many groups you could join for little cost. You can probably google it. There is MOPS (Moms of Preschoolers), Early Childhood PTA, and Moms Club of The Colony (If they have a chapter which I think they do). I belong to Moms Club of Lewisville. It's a great group to be a part of. We organize daily activities to do with the kids and we just pick and choose what we want to go to. We also have a Moms night out once a month. On days when there is no activity planned and I just really need to get out of the house, there is a whole list of people to call and say-hey, lets meet at the park or the mall or someplace! Our chapter fee is only $30 a year and that can be waived if there is a finance problem.

Good luck
N.

I'm so glad to see you've gotten several responces already! I truely hope you've found some great friends! I wanted to take a chance in the dark at this as well... If you'd still like to meet people...

I would love to offer you an opportunity you may have never considered before. I'm a Mary Kay consultant and LOVE what I do. Not too many people out there can honestly say they LOVE their job... I know you aren't looking for a job, but Mary Kay is so much more then just selling Lip Stick!

For so many women in our unit it is simply a great way to meet other sharp women out there. Several of which have children just like you! I would love to introduce you to our ultimate women's club if you'd like! Whether you decide to join the ranks and make money while you are at it is up to you! But I'd love to have you as a guest to one of our events! You'll meet several new women, be pampered with the number one brand, and who knows, maybe decide to join for the sisterhood itself.

It also is a great outlet for mom's too! I know it is for me! In fact I looked forward to our meeting last night all week long. Its kind of what kept me going this week... I have a two year old that takes a lot of my time and energy but Mary Kay is a great thing for me, and an amazing thing for my daughter! Growing up Pink is what we call children in a Mary Kay home and they are children of integrity!

I'd love to share tons more with you, please give it an open minded thought and let me know what you think! Either way I'd love to treat you to a make-over with NO obligations! :o)

Thanks! All the best!
T.

Hi! I think what you are going through is very common. I know I went through it also. I am in a wonderful moms group that is pretty close to you. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CarrolltonMoms/ It is Carrollton, but we are mostly all in the very north part of the city, right around Josey and Hebron. We actually do have a very active member from The Colony too. We are a somewhat small group so we get to know each other well. You are more than welcome to join us. We do have several girls that are the same age as your twins. Hope to have you join us!

Also if this group doesn't work out for you far whatever reason, try www.meetup.com I am in http://newparents.meetup.com/220/boards/ which I love. For having so many women in one group, I am actually surprised that I have never heard anything negative. Everyone is truly nice! Most of their meetups are over towards McKinney/Allen, etc, but I find it well worth the drive every now and then to get out and do things with such a great group of moms and kiddos.

Hello E.,

I think a lot of us go through this same thing. I know I have. You should really check out www.meetup.com. I saw that someone else had suggested it. I am a member to two meetup groups of SAHM. I have met some really cool ladies with children close to my childrens ages. It really helps to get us out of the house and meeting new people. Plus they also hold Moms Nights Out, which have been a lot of fun. Here is a link to the two groups I am involved in...

Hope you find what you are looking for.
