Looking to Make Some Extra Cash.....

Hello momma's. Well I am a 21 year old stay at home mom and my husband is in the mortgage industry and as we all know it is not going to well. We are financially in a crunch and I would like to help him out so he is not so stressed all the time. I have 3 1/2 year and old and 1 1/2 year old daughter. I am looking for something that I can do at home or take my kids with me. We are on the verge of losing our house so looking to make some money soon. Do you moms have any ideas on where I can go? I was thinking some babysitting, grocery runs for busy moms, dog sitting, do laundry pick up and drop off, errand runs, but don't have any ideas. I am open to anything right now. Any help that I can contribute Mike would appreciate. He works so hard 12 hours a day for 6 days a week and it doesn't seem to be paying off. I know you moms have some ideas out there please respond. I always count on you guys for help and have not once let me down.

Thanks for reading this and taking the time. I am so grateful and please keep my family in your prayers.

What can I do next?

I am a nanny through an agency which I can't bring my kids plus when my youngest was a baby I put out an ad for childcare on CL and got a lot of hits on that.
I did that for a about 1 1/2 yrs which saved me from drowning which is no easy task as a single parent, No it's not easy but it was worth it plus I was able to spend time w/my little one at home.

Hope this helps.

J. - I need a few more secret shoppers to finish out the year - we're not doing Carrollton until the first of the year, but I do need someone in the Coppell/Lewisville/Flower Mound area, and also someone in Frisco / West Plano - these areas only have one agent each right now & we need to add another in order to stay on schedule. Not sure where you are in Carrollton - if these areas would be easy.

I am the CEO of MomCheck (www.momcheck.com) We gather data & secret shop daycares. We train you on how to do it, we have an internal website where you go see what daycares are needing to be shopped, you sign yourself up for whichever one you want, complete the shop and turn it in & we pay pretty much within 24 hours (through paypal) - each shop pays $25. You can do as many as you want - and obviously can take your kids with you. I know it doesn't pay a whole lot, but it's something - and every bit helps! You could be up and running next week. If you're interested, email me at ____@____.com & I'll get you in touch with our Facilities Director.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I know it is tough to try to keep cheering hubby on when things are not looking very great.

My idea is sometimes offensive to some moms here....(I have suggested it before and gotten nasty mom mail) but I feel it is worth saying again. I would stay away from all the MLM and "have your own business" offers. They sound great but most of the time you have to put an investment upfront and the only person making money is the one who signed you up. They prey on people who want something fast and at home...

I have done several focus groups for some of the companies around here. It is a lot of fun. You sign up, I am with Schlessinger, and they email potential groups to you for what they are looking for. If you qualify and are interested, you go do the focus group. I have made as much as $200 cash in 2 hours, trialed a razor study for 3 months (no razor purchases for 3 months!), babyfood trial when DD was a baby, interviews on advertising. It is very interesting. NOW, most of the time, they limit you to 1 study every 6 months. $200 is the most I ever made cash and $75 is the least. I justify the trip (gotta add gas and car expenses) by how long it is and how much I get paid.

A MDO program could also be an option for you to take your children along. Even if they do not have openings...they often need a substitute if a teacher is sick. I'm not sure how bringing your children along would work with subbing but the subbing could get you in the door.

Your errand idea sounds nice but take into consideration the wear/tear on your car and your expenses. Just make sure you can make some money.

Sell things on EBAY or Craigslist.

I hope there are a couple of ideas that help you here.

Best wishes to you and your family.

go to www.care.com and set up a profile. It is free.
They text you every time there is a job in your area: baby-sitting, pet-sitting, and tutoring.

You can search jobs by zip code.

Hi J.

My co-workers and I were just discussing the need for an assistant's assistant - it does require answering the phone and some light clerical. It doesn't pay a whole lot because it really isn't hard work but you would also be able to work from home (as long as you have a computer - which I'm assuming you do since you're on MamaSource!). We would need someone M-Th 9-3..if you're interested, PM me at ____@____.com

Either way, prayers and hugs to you!

I used to agree when it came to MLM's because I had a bad experience years ago, but last October I started my own business with Shaklee. Shaklee was on Oprah 4 times last year and is the number one natural nutrition company in the United States. J., my husband also is in the Mortgage Business....that's what prompted me to go back to work last October. I love what I do and I hate selling.......so that should tell you something. I put in about 10 hours a week. Contact me if you would like to know about it just talking two moms with husbands that caught up in a bad deal.
