I found some good stuff on http://www.vacationkids.com/. Thought the reviews were pretty helpful as far as "kid" amenities, like activities, babysitter availablility, baby gear, etc.

I agree that www.tripadvisor.com is a wealth of bonafide info for the most popular vacation destinations. The site is free, and you only create a user name if you want to discuss / ask questions / give advice to others in the forums.

www.frommers.com is an awesome website. I found a flight to London with taxes for a little over $300.00 His whole deal is budget travel. He also has a lot of books at the library. My parents went on Safari to Kenya for ten days...with airfare, tours and accomadations it was about $3500. I could go on and on, I have found so many wonderful trips through this website.

One of the best with great deals is sidestep.com
Also, expedia.com
Some of the others offer great deals, however, you can't preview hotels, etc. until you pay.

Most of the state sites are quite good with regard to things to see and do. Some also have good links to accommodations as well. Since we prefer to travel by car, I don't have any good info on other transportation sites. But I use Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin state sites all the time and have used many others, as well.

hi - we have always used a travel agent - Highly recomend Sal Travel in Hoffman Estates. ###-###-#### We work with Sally the owner there, but everyone is nice. They will listen to what you want - do all the work at no cost to you and come back to you with recommendations for the price you are looking for & type of vacation you want (ex. active, relaxing, child care.. etc.) I like going to them because they usually have past stories of the do's & dont's in the area we travel... Good Luck.

I am usually just looking for flight since we have a timeshare but you can find flights and places to stay on any of them. The one site I use most often is www.travelzoo.com You can get pricing from various sites through this one. I also just recently started to use www.farecompare.com Hope this helps.

Here is a site if you want to travel to New Zealand,
www.new-zealand-vacation.info
It is based on my daughter's 6 month tour of New Zealand and my one month visit traveling with her. We do not have the commercial stuff up yet, just the information. The site is extensive with over 300 pages of information.
Have fun, M.

Once you pick your destination you may want to try www.pickpackgo.com or www.homeaway.com. These sites give you options to rent homes and condos which I have found to be a much more relaxing stay with a family rather than a hotel. Many homes, depending on location, may offer swimming pools, jacuzzi's, washers and dryers, etc.
Good luck!
